Knuckles Conservation Forest
Start your journey from Kandy city and travel by van to Lebanon Estate. The hike begins here, passing through a scenic tea estate before ascending Ratnagiri Hill and entering the lush forest. Along the trail, you’ll cross pristine streams, soak in the serene beauty of the forest, and head toward the KMP Cardamom Hut. On the way, you’ll witness breathtaking views, including two stunning waterfalls. The final night will be spent at the historic Cardamom Hut, which has stood for over 50 years.

Starting from the Cardamom Hut, we reach the cave after approximately two hours of trekking. In the evening, we explore four waterfalls and an infinity pool. At night, experience the unforgettable adventure of camping in a cave nestled amidst a waterfall—a truly unique and rare experience.

Starting from the cave in the morning, we first reach the top of Gunikuru Falls. From there, we pass through the open plains of Ginikeliyawa and Aswedduma before arriving at the rural village of Ranamure. Our van will pick you up there and take you to Dambulla or Kandy city for drop-off.

A challenging hike that is absolutely worth it

5.00This adventure was one of the highlights of our vacation. Surrounded by stunning nature, you can truly disconnect from the hustle of today’s world. Just be aware of leeches when it’s wet, but don’t let them ruin your experience! Our guides Ashan and Padmika showed excellent route-planning skills, deep knowledge of Knuckles, and were always attentive to make sure we were having a great time. After the hike, we accidentally left some things in the van, but the company did their best to return them to us as quickly as possible, which we really appreciated. Communication with Lanka Trek was smooth and pleasant from the very beginning until the end of the adventure. Although the hike can be quite challenging, don’t hesitate to give it a try. It’s absolutely worth it!

5.00Lanka Trek delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish! As a Belgian hiker used to well-marked trails, I appreciated the adventure of exploring Sri Lanka's forests with our knowledgeable guide Ravi. The 3-day Knuckles trail was challenging but incredibly rewarding with its diverse landscapes and hidden waterfalls. The absolute highlight was finishing our trek at a pristine water stream in the middle of Ranamure's paddy fields. The most peaceful bathing experience I've ever had. The calm surroundings and crystal clear water were the perfect reward after three days of hiking. The traditional Sri Lankan meals were outstanding, a perfect end to each day of hiking. Lanka Trek's commitment to authentic experiences while maintaining high safety standards is impressive. Bedankt for the amazing memories!
