Experience the Kyoto You Are Dreaming About.
Let me take you through the hidden world of Gion and the “real Kyoto” locals want to keep to themselves, where lantern-lit alleys, quiet shrines, and preserved streets reveal Kyoto’s true energy. Richard was an excellent tour guide, we enjoyed his stories and local info about shops. He even helped us get an umbrella when it started raining. The rain actually made everything more beautiful! I particularly appreciated Richard’s knowledge and sharing about Shinto - it was fascinating! I am so glad that we booked and would recommend to anyone!

This was by far the best tour we did in Japan. Richard is half American/half Japanese and therefore his English is very easy to understand (not always the case with Japanese tour guides). He is also very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Kyoto, its people and culture. We learned so much about the town, the customs and the Geisha, .... . Saw many great places in the evening, when it was emptier and the light was spectacular. We were only 5 people and Richard took his time to answer any questions. Absolute highlight of the trip. Richard, you made us understand Japan much better! Thank you!

If you could imagine having Kyoto all to yourself, that’s what this trip was like. We went down, backstreet through where the geishas live, and saw a side of Kyoto that rivaled the city side crossing the river into more of the historical older parts of Kyoto were just amazing. Richard was our guide and he took us through the back streets and into private places that only a few went it was truly a remarkable experience.

My partner and I were lucky enough to have Richard as our personal tour guide around Kyoto. He was absolutely sensational! Richard is a fantastic story teller, and has a wealth of knowledge about the Kyoto history and culture. My husband and I learned so much and felt this was truly a life changing experience for us both. Thank you Richard. A walking tour to remember.
