Nara Park
Nara Park is famous for the 1,200 or so wild deer that live freely within the park. Within Nara Park you will find the Todai-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Originated from Kinshozan-ji Temple, which was built in 728 (the 5th year of the Jinki era) to mourn the death of Emperor Shomu's crown prince, Imperial Prince Motoi. Although the present reconstruction of 1692 is only two-thirds of the original temple hall's size, Daibutsuden (Big Buddha Hall), Todaiji's main hall, is one of the biggest wooden structures in the world. The 15 meters tall, seated Buddha represents Vairocana and is flanked by two Bodhisattvas, is residing in this temple. We got to see all around the Osaka and Kyoto area by car with Hamza as our driver and guide. Hamza picked us up right outside the cruise terminal. We went to Nara Park to see the temple and 1,000's of Nara deer. Be ready for lots of hungry deer if you decide to feed them! Our next stop was Fushimi Inari-taisha. This shrine was amazing with 1,000 torii gates. We didn't have time to go through all of them, but wow! Then we were on to Kinkaku-ji. This golden shrine and gardens we breathtaking. We had a beautiful sunny day. Our last stop was Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. The Bamboo Forest was peaceful and the shopping district was packed! Hamza then drove us through Osaka at night just as it was getting dark. The lights were spectacular. Some of our group got dropped off in downtown Osaka and the rest of us went back to the ship. It was a fun day!

Our family decided to book a tour for our first day in Japan. We were staying in Osaka and booked a tour to see Kyoto and Nara for a day trip. We were picked up by Hamza from our hotel and had a great day of sightseeing, shopping, and eating. Hamza took us to the main sights in Nara and Kyoto, including the top 3 that we wanted to see: deer in Nara, the bamboo forest, and the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine. He was efficient, knowledgeable, patient, and accommodating. He allowed us flexibility to choose how much time we wanted to spend at each stop, which was very convenient! We would highly recommend this tour and Hamza as the tour guide. We had a safe and fun day!

Hamza was amazing!!! The trip was as perfect. You did ALL the stuff you need to do in Kyoto/Nara and Osaka in one trip without having to route it yourself. It’s just a brilliant easy relaxing ride. The sites were beautiful and perfect. Skip the buying multiple tours and just take this one!! Bring cash because entrance to things are cash only pretty much everywhere.
