We had such a fun time trying local dishes and drinks in the Gion district. Emma was a wonderful guide and shared interesting information about the history of Gion and Pontocho while ensuring a good time was had by all. She also gave us tips on activities to do in our visit in Kyoto which turned out to be some of our favorite experiences. Highly recommend this tour!

Nani was excellent! We had such a great time. She was early and so friendly from the very start. By the end of the tour, we were full of incredible food and sake!! Nami was just exceptional. She even played with our 20 month old that came on the trip! Would recommend 100/10

Great food and nice to meet people from all over the world. I think we went a bit long on the second stop because we had to hurry to the last one but Shum never made us feel rushed and lots of good information along the way.

Overpriced Relative to Other Food Tours. While our guide was polite, we showed up at the meeting point (by a known monument, which was designated by the company) and after a few minutes of waiting past the meeting time, we had to approach him to ask if he was the guide for our tour versus him checking with us. While we saw him when he arrived he was approximately 20 feet away from the monument and so we thought he might be connected to a separate tour as it is common for guides to meet by these common markers. Then the tour was supposed to start at 6 but he wandered us around the city for the first thirty minutes. It was only 20 minutes into this wandering that he revealed we had a reservation at 630 and we're virtually killing time before that reservation. It was a little frustrating that this was not immediately disclosed to us. The first restaurant was good but there was some miscommunication about orders and several people's dishes needed to be replaced as the wrong items were delivered. From there the quality of the food decreased and the quantity of food left us a bit hungry after the 3 locations (yes we are far Americans but we like to think cultured and overall for the price we were anticipating either higher quality food or a larger quantity of which neither was delivered. Lastly there were no warnings about how much time we would have at one location before moving on to the next, so we were abruptly rushed out of every venue with little notice. Again the guide was polite but overall given the all in cost of the total experience likely would not recommend it. This city has so much great food that you could accidentally stumble upon so having this advertised as a "foodie tour" set the bar quite high and this experience fell quite short of that label.
