This is a special 3.5-hour night food tour where you can experience the vibrant nightlife of Kyoto. Stepping slightly off the usual tourist routes, you will visit three hidden izakayas and enjoy traditional Kyoto-style dishes.
Just a five-minute train ride from Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station, the area around Saiin Station is filled with small izakayas, standing bars, and local spots where residents gather. There are no flashy signs—just good drinks, tasty snacks, and the everyday life of local people.
Because it’s a private tour, you can freely ask your guide about the food and its history while discovering Kyoto’s dining culture.
If you haven’t experienced Japan’s standing-bar culture yet, this is the perfect place. Enjoy a side of Kyoto that many visitors never see.

What To Expect
Saiin is a local Kyoto neighborhood where everyday life shapes the area’s food culture. With very few tourists around, it offers a rare chance to experience the city from a local perspective and connect with the community. The tour begins at a traditional machiya restaurant, where you’ll enjoy freshly made gyoza in a warm, nostalgic setting that reflects Kyoto’s down-to-earth side. At the second stop, you’ll explore a selection of craft beers, sake, and whisky from across Japan, paired with dishes made using seasonal regional ingredients. The evening concludes at a small, well-loved neighborhood bar known for its friendly owner and relaxed atmosphere. Seats are reserved for the tour, allowing you to unwind with expertly crafted cocktails and enjoy a cozy slice of Kyoto nightlife that most visitors never experience. Throughout the tour, the focus is on authentic local experiences—everyday dining, neighborhood culture, and hidden places beyond the typical sightseeing path.

5.00I came to Kyoto hoping to visit a calm place with few tourists, and I joined this tour. In this tour, the guide took us to several shops that local Kyoto residents actually frequent. It was a highly valuable experience. We were taken to shops we would never have found on our own, and we even got to talk with local people, which created a wonderful memory.

5.00This was a delightful tour and a chance to try the local Izakaya cuisine. Our guide Masa led us through the alleys of Kyoto to Little hidden gems we would never have found on our own. The food was excellent and included drinks such as local beer and sake as well as soft drinks all included. Highly recommend!

5.00I booked this tour last minute and was grateful to be accommodated. It was just myself, and Amy, the guide on the tour and I had an a fantastic time. Amy was an amazing host and also gave me lots of tips about Japan. We went to three different bars and restaurants where we tried a variety of dishes and drinks. The tour was fairly casual in that we ordered what we felt like eating and drinking and paid for it as we went. We went to places i never would have found myself, let alone been able to order at as the menus were in Japanese. It was SO refreshing to be taken off the too-well-beaten tourist trail and visit some authentic local places with local prices in Kyoto. This tour was incredibly good value. I recommend it to anyone looking to get away from Kyoto crowds and tourist area
