Our sushi class with Ayuri was truly one of the highlights of our entire trip! From the moment we walked in, she made us feel like family — so warm, genuine, and full of energy. We were laughing nonstop and felt completely at home throughout the experience. The chef and sake master were incredible as well, guiding us step-by-step on how to make our own sushi while sharing fascinating insights about Japanese culture and traditions. It was interactive, and fun— we left with full hearts and full stomachs! This class is more than just a cooking lesson; it’s a beautiful glimpse into local life and community. You can really feel the passion and authenticity that Ayuri and her team put into every detail. We can’t recommend it highly enough — an absolute must for anyone visiting the area! And the sushi chef SHREDS! 🌊🏄♂️

Ayu was a perfect guide. She spoke great English, which was amazing because she could easily translate what every person we talked to was saying. She was happy, excited to lead us on the tour, and very knowledgable about the history of Kyoto. She was so kind as well, and her as our guide made our tour experience unforgettable.

We booked the sushi making tour in Kyoto for our Wednesday afternoon in town. My partner and I are visiting from Florida, USA for our first trip to Japan, and he was hesitant to sign up for this experience but it turned out to be so amazing and worth it. We both agreed that this has been our best meal of our trip so far. Also, I thought it was just going to be the sushi, but our guide started out by walking us around a few places and chatting about the area, then there was the sushi, a sake tasting, and finished with having matcha while sitting on tatami mats. So it was like four experiences for the price of one! I highly recommend signing up for this! Also our guide Ayo was fabulous!

Our guide, Ayuri, was wonderful. This is a great tour. My family had a lot of fun with the sushi making class with chef. The quality of the fish provided was fresh and tempura was the best I’ve had so far in Japan. We learned a lot about the history of sushi and sampled different type of saki. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in sushi.

Yuka was amazing as our tour guide! We loved seeing the very old sweets building (and ordering a unique Japanese sweet to end our experience together). The sushi class was even better than expected. Our chefs were very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The sushi, the best we’ve had in our stay in Kyoto. The tea ceremony at the end was fun and lighthearted with matcha and our sweets with Yuka. Thank you for making this such a beautiful experience for us in Japan! Highly recommended.
