Inside Lake Cave, a tranquil lake mirrors the delicate crystal formations suspended above. It’s a magical experience and a dazzling visual display of some of nature’s finest work.
Descend a staircase through an ancient sinkhole known as a doline and into a sunken forest to reach this magnificent cave, which features dripping formations and a beautifully reflective underground lake.
One-hour guided tours take you into a pristine chamber beneath the karri forest. Your guide uses lighting to highlight various features within the cave while sharing interesting facts and stories.
You will witness the rare ‘suspended table’ formation, a one-of-a-kind structure that hovers above a reflective lake. This cave is the region’s most active ‘dripping’ cave, where droplets fall from delicate stalactites, creating ripples in the lake.

Lake Cave
During the guided tour you'll see delicate crystal straws and stalactites reflected in the water; droplets of the last year’s rainfall hanging from the tips are a sign that the formations are growing. This is the most 'actively dripping' cave in the southwest, and the only cave on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge that has a permanent lake. As you walk through the cave your guide will describe how the uniquely beautiful features of the cave have formed over millennia. When seated at the back of the cave, you'll witness the changing vistas of the cave as the guide illuminates the cave’s incredible formations. Once back above ground, admire the views from the Lake Cave Deck, a spectacular viewing platform in the treetops. The deck is built from beautiful local timbers and features incredible glass portholes with views through to the cavern below. There is an interpretative centre onsite, designed to help you learn about the formation and history of caves within the region, throughout Australia and around the world.
One hour fully-guided tour of the stunning Lake Cave.

Wonderfully interesting cave to see and we had an exceptional tour guide. We really enjoyed the tour! We were happy to see there was a decent amount of water in the cave and some very interesting facts shared. There are a lot of stairs so keep that in mind.

Fantastic tour. Sophie was brilliant as tour guide, very informative and loads of little jokes along the way made a great tour. The cave itself is amazing and loads of special photo opportunities.

Very good cave to appreciate Mother Nature doing her work. Our guide for the tour was excellent and informative. The stairs are hard work , especially climbing back up but well worth it.

A very worthwhile experience led by a good guide. The cave is a beautiful natural phenomenon with some unusual - unique - features. The stairs may seem daunting but there’s no rush. Having a guide enhanced the experience.

A well worth visit with unique features deep into the cave. Be mindful that there are many steps down into and out of the cave - over 500 in total. Fabulous experience especially how deep the cave is. Our guide was both very knowledgeable, engaging with the tour members and great sense of humor. 26thOct 12:00pm tour

We toured Lake Cave immediately after going round Jewel Cave. It was a great experience, led by our hilarious guide Digby. His enthusiasm was extremely infectious. His love of the caves transmitted to everyone on the tour. And this is an amazing cave. We were apparently lucky to see the lake, because it is it is highest level for 70 years. I definitely recommend this. One points to be aware of is that there are a lot of steps down… And hence a lot back up again. It is not at all for anyone who is very unfit, although there are several stopping points with benches on the way up. I think they said there were around 300 steps. My Apple Watch said I’ve done 76 flights of stairs at the end of this day, which included both this and Jewel cave ,

I visited with my wife & 2 children(10 & 12 years old) in the school holidays @ 11.20. Our tour guide was a gentleman named Digby. Digby was awesome, his enthusiasm & wealth of knowledge made this tour fantastic for all ages. His interaction with all guests (including a military assistance dog) was great. This was by far the best & most informative tour I’ve been on in a long time. The cave itself was full of stalactites & stalagmites with special features unique to this particular cave. Lake cave has the largest suspended table formation in the world. The lighting was also very impressive. I would advise booking online before the day as these tours are often booked out.

I suspect guide Digby has a back story that could be made into a movie. His passion and enthusiasm make an already great experience even better. This is a beautiful cave and with such a quirky and fun guide, its made even better. You know he says the same jokes several times a day yet you feel he has made them up just for you which is a sign of a true professional, it was a terrific experience. Don't however take the recommendations about stairs lightly...the walk back is quite strenuous.

Lake Cave has to be my favourite - a fabulous living example of the beauty of our planet. Kate is a terrific guide, who kept us informed and entertained throughout the tour. It’s difficult not to smile in such an awe-inspiring place. Very, very highly recommended!

What an unbelievable experience. The scenery, history and landscape is unforgettable. The guided tour was brilliant. Our guide, Digby, was fantastic. It was so refreshing to see someone who is so genuinely passionate about what they do. He made the experience even bette. I could not rate this experience high enough and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. There is a bit of walking and a lot of stairs, so for anyone who might struggle, something to keep in mind.Other than that, make sure you do this. You will not regret the experience.
