Tonle Sap Lake
Get picked up from your hotel and go directly by your chosen vehicle to the boat station which is 30 km (18.5 mi) south-east of Siem Reap. Visit the pagoda or local market first, then go by motorized boat on a tour of the stilted buildings. See where the people have courageously adapted to some of the most unimaginable conditions. Enjoy the beautiful atmosphere in this one-of-a-kind village from the comfort of the boats. The guide explains the history, culture, and lifestyle of the villagers. The villages are surrounded by mangrove forest. Take an optional side-trip of the flooded forest on a rowing boat, available October to January. This is quite touristy. The motorboat stops at a small floating cafe.

I recently took the Lakeside Village Tour with Asia Voyaga Travel, and it was one of the most peaceful and refreshing experiences I've had in Cambodia. The journey through the countryside was scenic and relaxing, and the village by the lake was simply breathtaking. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and ensured we understood both the culture and lifestyle of the local people. We enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch by the water, interacted with locals, and even took a small boat ride on the lake. Everything was very well organized and never felt rushed. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy authentic rural Cambodia.
