After passing the well-known sights of Lake Skadar, including its canals and water lily fields, we head to a more remote spot few tourists know: Poseljani. The approach is striking—a narrow canal winding from a quiet corner of the lake, cutting through fields and forest, all the way beneath the cliffs surrounding the village. The canal grows narrower and shallower as we go, making it clear that larger boats cannot pass. The last stretch feels secluded, almost like a small Amazon, where the silence is broken only by birdsong. Here, a small improvised port marks the end of the boat ride, and we continue on foot toward Poseljani. The path takes us past a few gardens and vineyards, then by the village’s first watermills. Altogether, Poseljani has 15 mills. We follow the trail to natural swimming pools, carved by winter waterfalls, where we stop for about 30 minutes to rest and enjoy the clear water. After soaking in this hidden spot, we return to the boat and continue our journey.
