Kassim is an exemplary tour guide providing one of the best experiences I have had travelling. The communication from Viator was clear as was communicating with Kassim on wats app which made organising the meeting point easy as I arrived in Lamu from the small boat that bought me to the jetty. I arrived early at lunchtime but Kassim still met me at and recommended a great restaurant for traditional Swahili cuisine as he went for Friday prayers. Kassim shared knowledge of Lamu and was excellent in providing the history and expertise of Swahili culture from the Lamu museum to quaint coffee shops and authentic hand made jewellery. Kassim really personalised my experience and made my day in Lamu even more memorable. Kassim went way and beyond in helping me to sort out my flight back to Mombasa the next day as the airline had provided me with 2 different flight times. Kassim went to the Skyward Airlines office in Lamu and put me on the phone to them to sort out the correct times. Asante Sana Kassim for your professionalism, reliability and expertise and making my experience of Lamu so memorable.

A Magical Anniversary in Lamu with Kassim – Our Amazing Guide Kassim 💫 Celebrating our wedding anniversary in Lamu was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made — and having Kassim as our guide made it even more special. From the moment we met him, his calm, friendly energy made us feel instantly comfortable. He wasn’t just a guide; he felt like a friend showing us around his beautiful home, as he says, "Amu tamu"(meaning sweet island Amu). On our first day, Kassim took us through the narrow, history-filled streets of Lamu Old Town. Town. Every corner had a story, every doorway a whisper of the island’s past — and he told them all with so much passion and respect for his culture. We ended the day with a lovely, sweet cup of: Kahawa Tamu". Day two was pure magic. We sailed to Manda Toto Resort, where we had the most peaceful and romantic dhow lunch surrounded by turquoise waters and endless skies. Kassim made sure everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and soak it all in. Our last evening was the perfect ending — a sunset dhow ride that felt straight out of a dream. As the sky turned shades of gold and pink, I couldn’t help but feel grateful — for the moment, for my husband, and for Kassim, who made it all so memorable. He was professional, thoughtful, and genuinely kind throughout our stay. Thanks to him, we didn’t just see Lamu — we felt it. If you’re ever planning a trip to Lamu, do yourself a favour and find Kassim. You’ll leave with more than just beautiful photos — you’ll leave with unforgettable memories. 💛

I did a few things with Kassim as it was soon obvious he was the man about town that knew how to do everything! He was so professional, giving clear information and prices for each activity and being super flexible. I was on my own and he went out of his way to find others I could join with. The Lamu old town tour was very informative while the sunset cruise was super relaxing. The thing that made both activities even better was Kassim's really friendly, fun, open manner and it was a pleasure to spend time with him. All you need when you get to Lamu is Kassim's number and everything will be fine!

We signed up for a walking tour with Kassim and got so much more. He’s been our local host a companion while in lamu- helping us find a spot to watch EPL, opening secret doors on windy streets to the best local coffee shops, arranging for us to go to Shella and accompanying us along the way. We’re disabled and Kassim didn’t bat an eye he’s just offered us a helping hand the best.
