Welcome to your day on Santiago, the largest island in Cape Verde! This is Don, your German-speaking guide for four years. Together we travel for one day this volcanic island with its bizarre rock massifs : From Praia we go to the 800-year-old and 30-meter-thick giant tree Poilão. From there, we head down the imposing mountain range of the Serra da Malagueta Natural Park to Tarrafal. In this small tourist town we walk over the most beautiful beach in Cape Verde by far. Alternatively, you can also visit the concentration camp from the colonial period.
The conclusion is a Groggu - beer - and fruit juice tasting, which only we offer exclusively!
Our co-guide Edney can speak English, French and Portuguese. Cape Verde has the motto : No Stress! Get in... enjoy.... Take 1000 photos.... tell us more. This tour is ideal for cruisers, e.g. of MeinSchiff and AIDA.

Assomada
Now we head to the centre of the island, where the 800-year-old, 30-metre-thick Poilão tree (a Ceiba pentandra) awaits us. Be careful not to touch it! It has developed thorns!

Anytime again, absolutely recommend! My wife and I took part in the full day trip. On time we were picked up at our ship and on time we were back. In between, Don (German emigrant) and Walter (Cape Verder) showed us their small island. We especially liked the many schmonzettes about daily life, country and people. It was one of the most charming shore excursions of our whole cruise. Cape Verde is really worth a trip of its own!

After docking our ship and a little refreshment, our group was warmly and humorously welcomed in front of our not necessarily state-of-the-art, but comfortable and functional minibus by Don and Walter, our tour guides. A rich selection of drinks was offered and Don prepared us anecdotally for the adventure of Cape Verde. I found the verbal accompaniment during the entire journey to be great. Everything important, interesting and exciting was explained and described without overloading. In between, we can enjoy the funny conversations of Don and Walter, who answered all kinds of questions patiently at any time. At the end there was also a little surprise, but I don't want to give it away here ...
