This was a tour and tasting through the Central Market and not a restaurant tasting as we’ve done in other cities. We had a wonderful time and tried a lot of different things - smoked chicken, a variety of fish, pickled vegetables, the famous brown peas, a couple different alcoholic drinks and one non-alcoholic, chocolate and donuts and a hot drink of our choice. It was more than enough for a meal! Our guide was excellent and we learned all about the history of the market, the food and about Latvian culture. I would highly recommend this tour!

It was an interesting tour, but it still has potential for improvement. Basically, the tour was nice and the group was harmonious. What I would have liked would have been if the guide had introduced himself. We then "ran off". My expectation would have been that the guide would make sure the group was complete. I found it unpleasant! It felt a lot like running through the places. The explanations on site were good. The conclusion - the guide was suddenly gone after a quick goodbye. Normally, I know that you still get ways back explained. You can ask further questions….

A really good range of local specialities to try, from pickles to chocolate truffles. Our guide, Guna, was very good, explaining the foods and giving the history behind many. Would certainly recommend this tour.

This is a great tour. Our Guide (unfortunately I can’t recall her name) was amazing! So well informed, great overview and information provided and just a really nice person. The market is great, the food interesting.
