The tour guide never showed up. We had gotten a confirmation email and been charged for the tour. We waited around for over 30 minutes with two strangers who had also booked. We eventually got an apology message saying that there was no tour that day. Only upside is that the refund was quick.

We were very excited for this tour as it was part of a birthday present but unfortunately it was cancelled 20 minutes after it was meant to start. This meant we were waiting on the road in the cold well after the start time. I tried calling the number provided twice (no answer) and after 20 minutes just received a cancellation email. We completely understand tours may be cancelled but for it to have been done so late with no response was extremely disappointing. Very poor customer service, very disappointed.

Having done some food tours in other countries the first thing to note is that this is a tasting tour around a market and not a sit down experience in multiple restaurants. The price does reflect this. Generally the tour was interesting and informative although due to being in the market we did sometimes find it hard to hear what was being said. The tour itself lasts around 2 hours and during that time we sampled a variety of products including meat, cheese, alcoholic beverages, fish and chocolate. No non alcoholic beverages were offered as a substitute for anyone who didn’t drink which is something that the company might like to consider. Overall it was an interesting and enjoyable introduction to Latvian food, culture and heritage.

The guide herself was fine, friendly, and she did make an effort to explain the culture and history behind each dish. That said, the tour felt seriously overbooked. There were 20+ people, so it was really hard to hear her explanations, and getting samples felt a bit like a school canteen queue. The pace was also very rushed, with the guide speed-walking through the market and everyone having to hurry to avoid getting left behind. It was especially frustrating because she didn’t want to repeat herself, but also didn’t project her voice enough for the whole group to hear. Overall, the concept is great, but the group size and pacing need improving

The tour started very positively: The first stops were informative, well structured and interesting in terms of content. Unfortunately, the impression changed significantly towards the end of the tour. The tour guide became increasingly abusive and insulting and expressed disrespect for other guests. What was particularly irritating was that she threw food provided in the trash. In addition, the tour was not officially ended, but the tour guide left the group without comment. This behaviour is in no way professional and is not proportionate to the price of the tour.

Very informative and fun. The guide (I don't recall her name) was knowledgable, personable and engaging. Highly recommend this food tour.
