We booked this tour with Kevin. A professional guide through and through. In the run-up - as many photos and videos have seen on the Internet - I was not at all comfortable with the idea of climbing over bare, slippery rocks to the summit. But Kevin made us feel very well looked after from the start. He always led us safely up through Stage 2, and down again. We also learned a lot about the history of Mauritius and a lot about nature, land and people from Kevin. Without a guide, I wouldn't do the tour. THANK YOU again Kevin for the exhausting but very impressive tour.

Kevin was exceptional. He accommodated for us. He made sure that we were with the group but also immersed in the experience and he made safety a priority. We also learned about the history of Mauritius and le morne during the tour. Not to forget the amazing pictures we came home with thanks to Kevin.

Amazing experience and a must-do if you are in the area. The sunrise from the top was incredible. Kevin was an excellent guide, very knowledgable and an expert in hiking around Mauritius. The hike is challenging but I wouldn’t put people off doing it if you have a good basic level of fitness. Kevin was also great at timing breaks and sensing when the group needed to rest and when we were good to proceed.

We booked a private hike up Le Morne as taking our 13 year old daughter and wanted to feel comfortable to stop if / when necessary without pressure to reach summit by sunrise. In the end we actually set off a couple of hours later than Kevin's usual preferred time (4am) as time difference from travelling made that too early for us and we set off at 6am which means you start in the light and get down before the heat is too crazy. This worked perfectly for us and really appreciated Kevin's flexibility and communication - very easy to whats app him and he also picked us up from our Le Morne hotel. Kevin is a great guide and kept a good pace on the way up. While I may not have thought it at the time (!) when I was exhausted it was important not to stop for too long and keep moving. I actually found the hardest part the long slow incline in stage 1 - the steeper stage 2 kept you busy looking for handholds etc. As others have mentioned it is challenging. Our 13 year old actually found the way up much easier than us (plays sport more regularly whereas we are active but don't regularly work out) but even if you are fit the way down can put pressure on knees / joints as very steep. Kevin knows the best paths / sides of the route to take so following him really does help and on the way down we saw monkeys an geckos and really enjoyed hearing more about the nature of Le Morne. Kevin also took amazing photos on the way, including some brilliant ones on the summit where it looks like from a drone but is in fact him climbing up an extra high bit of the mountain to look down and take pic. He then air drops these to you and some of my favourite pictures of the holiday. Highly recommend - if doing as a group just bear in mind that he will need to keep going and so consider level of fitness. If in doubt can book a private one and take the pressure off a bit.

A great experience! Booking was easy and we also asked them to arrange transfers for us which they did, no problem. We did the sunrise hike which is a very early start but worth it. At the start you are in pitch black at the foot of the mountain and the stars are amazing. It is hard, the first section is continous walking uphill and the second section is proper climbing and clambering. I would say dont do this if you are not SURE you are fit enough as it wont be enjoyable. The guide does ensure lots of little stops to make sure back of the group catches up with the front, but if you are at the back there's less stopping time because as soon as everyone catches up, the group needs to move on to ensure you see the sunrise, so there's less rest for them. The views from the top are incredible. Going down is also hard because its so steep and uneven, I found this hard on my knees and i dont have any knee issues or injuries. On the downward stretch the guide gives lots of info about the history of the mountain and Mauritius which was interesting. Really recommend if you like a physical challenge

Could not connect with the tour or viator operator…neither they followed up whether we reached the location or not…they did not even call whether we are on our way or if we are reaching a little late…we tried to get a refund but they gave us unprofessional reasons for refund. Would not recommend to book via viator or this tour operator

We did the Le Morne early morning trek with Kevin, starting at 4:30 AM and returning by 8:30 AM, and it was unforgettable. As two visitors from abroad, we loved how he combined expert knowledge of the mountain’s culture, flora, and fauna with fascinating insights about Mauritius and its people. He paced the trek perfectly, ensuring we could soak in the stunning views without feeling rushed, while keeping us safe and motivated. Kevin also captured fantastic photos and videos along the way — memories we’ll treasure and share. Warm, experienced, and truly passionate about what he does, Kevin made the climb both safe and special. Highly recommend!

We had a great experience on the hike/climb! Kevin was our guide and he was fantastic. He helped us in hard parts of the climb, took photos for us, took breaks when needed to catch our breath, and also provided so much info about Mauritius/answered all our questions. Le Morne offers stunning views and I would highly recommend this tour.

You should book this tour! Kevin is an absolutely great guide. He adapts the speed to the group and tells a lot of interesting facts about the host of Mauritius.

very nice hike, which may seem a bit difficult, but our guide Kevin managed to make it very pleasant and quiet, taking breaks when necessary and showing us the easiest way to reach the summit.
