What To Expect
Meet at our shop to change into your wetsuit and collect your surf board. Walk with the instructor onto the beach and begin with some basic safety and instruction before catching your first few waves in waist deep water. You will return to the beach for more detailed instruction about how to stand up and then spend the rest of the time in the water with your instructor helping everyone to stand up on their surf board. Return to the shop to shower and change at the end of the lesson.

5.00We are 2 backpackers from Germany who had a lesson with another couple from WA and our instructor Luci it was very fun. We did some surfing already on the east coast already so we got a tips from her and suddenly trimmed along my first 'green wave'. She explains things super easy so it clicks straight away. Very good energy the whole time, didn’t feel stressful at all. If I’m back on the Great Ocean Road I’ll definitely book again 🙌 (pic of sunrise from anglesea)

5.00Best of the best of the best of the best! What an absolute joy to take a surf lesson with Go Ride a Wave in Anglesea. I booked a 1.5hr private lesson with local legend Laura who was such a brilliant teacher. I initially missed my morning lesson due to traffic and Cheryl in the shop managed to make it work for the afternoon. Cheryl and Laura really went out of their way for me and I am eternally grateful. Being able to jump into the beautiful Australian waters brought me JOY! The water was 59F and the wetsuit was excellent. I felt not even a chill - just comfort and pure fun! Thank you Cheryl and Laura!

5.00Within control: the facilities were functional and clean, individual changing rooms. Instructor Kas was absolutely lovely - informative, enthusiastic and generally a damn fine instructor. Outside of control: the waves were so good! I reckon I'd still give a 5 star if the waves were messy, though. It's just great being out there.

5.00We had a great private surf lesson with Oa from Go ride a wave. She was amazing teaching our two boys at 8 and 9 years to surf and gave them their best experience ever. It was their first time surfing and she was a 100 % invested dragging them and their boards out to the waves and helping them onto the boards. She even taught them tricks and they are now hooked on surfing. Our boys speak little English being from Denmark but Oa made them feel very safe and brave in the water and they totally understood each other anyway. Thanks 😍

5.00Great two hours! Our Instructors Charlotte and the guy (sorry didn’t get his name! started with D!) were excellent, they move around the group and give everyone one on one time and seemed genuinely pleased when someone did well. Will defo be doing this again

5.00I had a fantastic experience learning to Stand Up Paddleboard today at Anglesea. Joel was not only a fantastic teacher but also very friendly and supportive. I was a bit worried that my only talent might be falling in, but with Joel’s fabulous instruction, patience and support I am able to say YES I can stand up and paddle. It was a great day and I highly recommend Go Ride A Wave. If this 66 year old can do it, anyone can!
