We had an excellent afternoon, learning about local Keralan cuisine. Jes was a fabulous host and our walk through a local village was really informative. He is passionate and knowledgeable about food and we enjoyed the opportunity to have a go cooking ourselves. The food he prepared for us was amazing!

We spent a wonderful afternoon with Jesvanth. He began by explaining the basics of using spices, then took us to the market to buy fresh fish and vegetables. The afternoon continued in his kitchen, a meticulously maintained and clean space where you can feel his love for food. Jesvanth works in an orderly manner, explaining all the steps involved in creating a dish. We sampled numerous dishes throughout the afternoon, and then concluded with a wonderful and hearty dinner. If you want to immerse yourself in the local culture while enjoying excellent food, you've come to the right place!

We were lucky enough to stay with Jes at Little Chembaka and so had the delight of eating his food for 3 days, but not only is his food amazing, but he’s very good at explaining cooking methods and techniques. I’d highly recommend either eating here or taking one of Jes’s classes as we learned so much.

  • One of the best experiences we’ve had on vacation!

We had the most amazing experience with Jesvanth at Wonderwerk Kitchen. The day started with a sunrise canoe trip down the beautiful backwaters. Away from other tourists, it was just us and the locals starting their days as the sun rose over the waterways and paddy fields. When we arrived at Wonderwerk Kitchen, we were given a beautiful Keralan breakfast before we headed off to the market to buy provisions for the day’s cooking. There we saw coconut oil being made and spices being prepared for sale. Back in the kitchen, we spent hours with Jesvanth learning, watching, and preparing a ton of home-cooked Keralan dishes. He even included a favorite of mine from previous trips. Eating our meal was the ultimate reward for our hard work. Honestly, one of the best things we’ve ever done on vacation. Thank you!

An excellent way to fill in a day in Cochi - this intimate cooking class had it all. Visits to local vendors (coconut/fish/spices) with clear explanations of the what & how of the vendors operations. Then back to this lovely little cooking school to watch chef Jes create so many different dishes from scratch, before sitting down to a delicious lunch!

Instructive, cozy and tasty cuisine tasted. The chief of miracle work immediately made us feel at ease. Nice family atmosphere in a small cozy kitchen along the water. The price is a bit expensive but you do contribute to support for the local population through employment projects and tourism.

Our family had an exceptional experience at Wonderwerk Kitchen. Jesvanth is an excellent chef and superb host. He kept everyone engaged - from our keen teen to our easily distracted 12 year old. The passion he feels to share his experience and knowledge of Kerala and its incredible cuisine shines through - you can taste it in every dish! We will go home with many happy memories and some key foundational knowledge that we can use to incorporate Keralan cooking into our daily lives - a lasting gift. Thank you Jesvanth and team!!!
