Escape the concrete jungle, it’s time for an adventure! Get out to sea on our fine catamaran and discover the North Eastern Banks of Singapore on this 3 hour Kelong Tour.

The waters around the North-eastern islands are buzzing with a different kind of charm – seamen fishing, an abundance of nature, mangrove swamps and the idyllic life of residents who live in kelongs. All these are sights that normal city dwellers do not get to experience. We will also take you up close to Pulau Ubin (the only inhabited island out of Singapore’s 63 islands) and explore it from the sea. You will be surprised to discover that the habitats surrounding this rustic island are brimming with life! Topping off the intriguing boat tour would be a visit to a kelong-restaurant, where you get to experience life on a floating fish farm.

Soak in the sun, let your hair down in the wind and just breathe in the salty sea air. It will be an unforgettable mini-vacation experience!

Husband and I booked Disappearing Kelongs: Island Boat Tour using Culture Pass for Sun morning. Received Whatsapp on Fri afternoon from Dani for tour details. There was a mention no shoes on board boat, so I replied her back on Sat morning to ask for the reason as we preferred wearing shoes instead of slippers and asked if it was ok. Simple question, message was read, no reply. We decided not to go for the tour as service is top priority. All it takes is a simple response. No one called or messaged us on our no-show to. Do not seem to value customers as trip payment has already been made, maybe that was what mattered most to them.

It was a very good experience, a great tour for short ‘ getaway’ from the busy city life. Robin is a great guide, he is well versed with the history of kelong and even marine industry. He shared a lot of things that we never knew before and it’s not just a tour but good education for all of us! Will surely recommend to friends and family! Thank you

Wonderful morning out at sea! Captain Robin was an able and knowledgeable guide and clearly very at home on the water. He seemed to know everyone from the coastguards to the local fishermen! We were treated to stories of Singapore's coastal culture -- covering a bit of everything from fishing, land reclamation, shipping, kelong heritage, Ubin's granite mining industry, and our local boating history. Bonus: a spirited conversation on public housing in Singapore between the locals and the visitors on the boat (with the locals singing the praises of our HDB housing system). I enjoyed the kelong visit and the opportunity to buy fish fresh from the kelong-pond. So glad I got to go on this tour and catch a glimpse of a fast-disappearing aspect of Singapore's maritime heritage. It helped that we had perfect weather -- no rain but sufficient cloud cover, and a nice fresh breeze to keep us all cool. Thank you Robin for a fun and educational boat tour!

Awesome trip with the family. Robin is super knowledgeable about the seas and various lelong around the northern shores of Singapore. He practically know all the inhabitants on the waterways and coast of Ubin. The optional lunch at the kelong is abit pricey but for the experience its alright. Chilli crab was a exceptionally yummy.

  • Great Island and Kelong hopping tour

The yacht departs from SAF Yacht Club in the morning about 8.30am and ends about 11.30am, which is the most North of Singapore. Wear slippers for easy removal as shoes are not allowed on board. Was also told to bring along poncho in case of rain. The boat has 2 engines as told thus it was really stable except when big boats go pass nearby and the waves hit. I was preparing for seasick but it didn't happen fortunately. Robin, who probably spend most of his life at the sea, thus very experienced, took route along the Straits of Johor, passing Sembawang shipyard and park, Pulau Seletar, passing Punggol, Coney Island, Pulau Ketam (which means Crab cause the small strip of island looks like a crab pincer), Palau Ubin, explaining in detailed some of the area history and developments. Saw repair ships, sand boats, Pasir Gudang (Malaysia long stretch port) , kelongs and beaches. Robin also took a lot of photos and sent to me after the tour. Boarded one of the Kelongs to get fresh produce of fish and lobster which was a good deal from Smith Marine which also has a restaurant for the public. You can only get there when you book a dinner with the restaurant and pay $100 in additional for the boat ride there from Changi ferry terminal, regardless of no of pax. The Singapore side views were better as it is not something that you will see often especially the mangroves area. Great experience if you have not been there before. Get your tickets with your SG culture credits before it expires 31 Dec 2025.
