Bring plenty of water and food: there are no shops on the island, and the only beach kiosk is not always open. Be prepared for the whole day.
Sun protection is essential: hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. The island has a dry, volcanic and rugged terrain, with no trees or natural shade.
We recommend booking in advance, especially during the summer.

Overall it was good as a day out but the conditions made it less enjoyable. I didn’t realise that your start time had no impact on the snorkelling, you either get dropped off at the island on the 10am or 11am ferry and wait to be picked up at 1.20pm for snorkelling. It was hot and exposed (luckily we were warned so had all the provisions) so I would have chosen the 11am rather than 10am to reduce the wait. The snorkelling part just takes you 5 mins down the coast and turns back round and then you snorkel just next to the pick up point which I found disappointing. The snorkelling itself wasn’t enjoyable but this was mainly because the water was so choppy. The only way in was to jump and there was loads of people below me so I felt lucky not to land on them. It was so windy at that point that the boat and people didn’t have much control and I don’t think there were enough floats or it was obvious enough that we could’ve had a pool noodle with us. I’m a strong swimmer and have snorkelled before but I struggled to be able to adjust my goggles and with everyone everywhere it just felt a bit out of control so I came in after about 5-10 mins having not really seen anything and clambered past everyone clinging to the ladder to save myself! There were lots of fish though and those who persevered past the rush did seem to have a great time so maybe my advice is wait until the rush dies down before jumping in. The snorkel boat then either drops you back at the island or can take you back. Everything was very punctual.

You do the same thing by taking your diving glasses. It's not worth the snorkeling, the boat trip is the same. Na de na.

A very nice day out. We took the 11.15 ferry to the island and went to a beautiful beach. The boat arrived back at 13.20 and took us snorkeling. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially Suzanna who helped us at the ticket office before we left. We highly recommend this trip.

The trip over was fine and the island was fine. The crew were all very nice. However, there was no point snorkelling because the water was so rough and the boat didn’t take us anywhere secluded - the snorkelling was just off the pier (after a little boat ride round for a few minutes). If we had gone somewhere else (like a cove perhaps) then we could have actually snorkelled. I appreciate they don’t control the water but surely there was somewhere less choppy we could have gone. Should have just paid for the ferry over and back.
