Lukomir is the highest and most isolated village in Bosnia. This hike is also the most popular hike in the country. And for a good reason. It offers all: amazing views, long walks, culture, history and legends.

This is the most popular one day trip from Sarajevo. We start our tour on the southern slopes of Bjelašnica mountain, from medieval Umoljani village. We will make a short stop on ancient necropolis at Dolovi, and then continue towards Umoljani.

We will then pass through Gradina - highland summer village, and go to Studeni Potok stream. On the way, we will visit 40-meter Peruće Waterfall before continuing to Lukomir.

Our last stop - Lukomir village. It lives the same life for more than 600 years, Bosnia’s highest and most isolated mountain village.

On the edge of the village you will be treated to a breathtaking view of Rakitnica Canyon. We will have traditional homemade lunch prepared by our hosts. You will also have the opportunity to purchase local handcrafts

A view you’ll never forget. If you haven’t been yet — it’s about time you go. Some views are worth every step and every mile to reach them. We sat there, gazing at the mountains; the scene looked like a painting, almost unreal. The village is utterly charming, the food was delicious, and the hosts were simply wonderful — warm, welcoming, and full of genuine kindness.

This was our first visit to Bosnia and Kenan made a great presentation of the Bosnian mountains on the hike to Lukomir. We also got a view of the ridge and valley we were going to do the next day, exciting! We can gladly reccomend this hike :)

The tour was supposed to be just a nice end to our 16-day journey through Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Little did we know it would become the absolute highlight of the entire trip. The nature we witnessed during the circular hike was nothing short of breathtaking, and the experience was further enhanced by the remoteness, peace, and silence — and the absence of any crowds. The stories Kenan shared with us along the trek were enriching and thought-provoking. We also immensely enjoyed the lunch prepared by the warm and welcoming inhabitants of Lukomir. The women of Lukomir are excellent craftswomen, and we were delighted to support their beautiful tradition by purchasing several locally knitted garments. We could not recommend this trip enough. We left a big piece of our hearts in Bosnia & Herzegovina and know we will be back. Thank you, Kenan, for making it such a fun and memorable day!

Our guide was very knowledgeable about both local culture and nature and clearly cared for the environment around us. The circuit trail offered a good balance of challenges and amazing views. Lukomir Village was charming with an interesting story, and the local food was delicious. The “trail mix” consisted of energy snacks and fruit. Highly recommended.

Our guide, Kenan, made this experience truly unforgettable. He was not only very knowledgeable about the history and the nature of the area, but he was also incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. He took great care of our group and made sure we all had a fantastic time. We highly recommend this hike, especially with Kenan as your guide!

Kenan is a great guide. We were a family of four and really enjoyed hearing his stories about the mountains and his family heritage in the mountains as well as some historical context. We were collected from our hotel in Central Sarajevo. We decided to do the tour with a 4x4 Jeep rather than hiking the whole way due to a knee injury. The scenery is beautiful and the meal in the village was the best we had on our whole trip. It is a very special and magical place. If you are able to do the hike then it is very enjoyable. If not, then the 4x4 Jeep tour is an alternative way to reach Lukomir and still enjoy the wonderful scenery and experience the village. We met Kenan in the village and did a tour of the village and the viewing points. The Jeep driver was a mountain rescue guide so we felt very safe in his hands.
