What To Expect
Yorkshire
During the course of the day we will drive through the beguiling, sublimely beautiful and largest county in England, Yorkshire. In fact many simply call it Gods County. We will see the extraordinary variety of landscape from the very flat and rural Vale of Yorkshire to the steep lofty and other worldly scenery of the North York Moors. Along the way we will get out and explore different locations so you can really embrace and experience what a wonderful place this is and never just spend too much time in the vehicle. Nice surprises and sheep sightings are always included! If your trip to the UK includes visits to to the world class cities of London and Edinburgh then you must include Yorkshire as the perfect counter point to demonstrate what extraordinary variety this wonderful country can offer.
Helmsley
Helmsley is a beautiful English Market Town nestled in the North York Moors National Park, it is know for its charming appearance and the ruins of Helmsley Castle.

5.00Andrew took us through Yorkshire showing us the quaint towns, fantastic Castle Howard, and the Whitby Abby. He made sure we had great fish and chips in Whitby and stopped at the Goathland train station( where a scene for the Harry Potter movie was filmed). He made sure our tour was exactly what we wanted and made lots of stops for photos. I can highly recommend this tour!!

5.00We'd wanted to visit Whitby for the longest time, already having fallen in love with York over the years and are so glad we finally got to make the trip with Expedition Yorkshire. We had the most enjoyable and fun day, thanks to Andrew's very knowledgeable guiding skills and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a tour. We were made very welcome from the off and saw so many places that we wouldn't have thought to look for or known how to find on our own. We were fortunate to have a beautiful day which only enhanced the views of the stark and striking North York Moors. We particularly enjoyed the short stops en route at the atmospheric Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys and a break for refreshment at Helmsley's lovely Walled Garden (you have to try the delicious cakes at the Vinehouse Cafe!). Whitby did not disappoint, the habour views were beautiful and of course the imposing Abbey looms over the coast, just as it has for centuries. We stopped for a rather touching visit to St Mary's Churchyard, a very atmospheric spot for a quick recap of the opening scene of 'Dracula', just as the sun was beginning to think about setting.. We cannot recommend Andrew and Expedition Yorkshire enough - nothing is too much trouble, you'll learn so much and get the best views of the most stunning parts of the county, shown off at its very best. Don't think about it for too long-book that trip, you really won't regret it.

We had such a great time the time flew by and we are very grateful for our experience and for Richard's insight and knowledge. Would do this tour again in a minute.

5.00We just got back from touring with Andrew for 4 days and wholeheartedly recommend Expedition Yorkshire for a fantastic experience!! We did the Moor, Coast & Cliff and ACG&S tours, as well as transfer tours from Edinburgh-York and York-Oxford. Andrew is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and funny. He knows the backroads and best spots, and he is clearly passionate about the beautiful area, as well as its people and history. We had a mixed family group (including 9 year old boys), and we also were dealing with some rainy weather and unexpected health issues. Andrew was unflappable – he tailored our trips based on our interests and needs, and helped us all make the best of our vacation. The touring van (as shown on the website) is very comfortable and well-maintained, and fit our group perfectly. We would happily book again with Expedition Yorkshire and highly recommend for an amazing bespoke experience!

5.00We just completed two exceptional tours with Expedition Yorkshire. The first was the Moor, Coast, and Cliff tour, where we visited the amazing scenic countryside north and east of York where we were staying. We had also booked a “transfer tour” from York to our next destination in Edinburgh. This was a great way to move on to our next locale without “wasting” a day, as we traveled from site to site along the way. Andrew and company tailored the tours to our specific interests - history and photography - ensuring rich and memorable experiences for both of us. We highly recommend Expedition Yorkshire if you plan on visiting the region.

5.00We spent an amazing day with Andew, the best day of our trip to the UK. Andrew has a warm, engaging personality which quickly makes you feel comfortable. He readily shares his comprehensive knowledge of the area, taking lesser known roads that lead to interesting sites that no guide book will ever include and most others would bypass. He took us through small towns, regaling us with their history and interesting stories. He knows the best cafes and restaurants in which to get refreshed. He was always willing to stop so that we could take in the views or capture images. We never felt rushed at any point; it was like taking a journey with a good friend. We would highly recommend Expedition Yorkshire tours to anyone.

5.00Three generations of my family (aged from 11 to 82) took a wonderful full day tour last month with Expedition Yorkshire, which included the Yorkshire moors, Staithes, Whitby, Goathland, and so many more places. Andrew was friendly, considerate, and extremely knowledgeable. He listened to our requests and planned a tour for us that included all the places where we wanted to go, but then added so many extra stops along the way, showing us beautiful places we would never have thought of visiting, or been able to get to by ourselves. It really was the highlight of our visit, and I highly recommend this company.
