Once arrived at the macaw clay lick we will see hundreds of parrots of different species that come to eat clay from the wall adjacent to the river. We will settle into our saddles to wait for one of the most beautiful natural birdlife shows in the world to begin. The parrots are followed by the 3 most colorful species of macaws in America, the red and the green ones, plus the blue and yellow ones come together to eat necessary clay in their daily diet and eliminate toxins. On a good day of activity you can see hundreds of these wonderful animals flying over you. A lifetime experience After a good breakfast, our boat will take us to the transport back to Puerto Maldonado and transfer for 1 hour by boat to the lodge and installation in their respective rooms. After lunch, we will visit the "island of the monkeys", located in front of our Lodge crossing the Madre de Dios River where we will find different species such as the family of Capuchin monkeys that live on the island and return to the Lodge. At night we will go in search of white alligators that are usually found on sandbars, in the Madre de Dios River for which it will be necessary to carry a flashlight. Also, we can see the capybara the largest rodent in the world that can weigh 60 kilos, return to the lodge, dinner and rest.

  • It's a jungle out there!

It must have been 100F with 100% humidity furing our January trip. Even though it was furing the tsiny seasom, we were blessed with 3 fully sunny days. The tour leaders were very knowledgeable and friendly and the staff was very efficient. We only wished they turned on the power in the morning when we have to be ready to go by 4:30a. And wished there was a fan in our cabins to circulate the air. Still, a very memorable experience.
