What To Expect

Upon your arrival at our Gallery, we will introduce you to the batik making process and history of batik. Then, you will start to sketch the design of your batik scarf. We will give you some inspiration and templates as well. After the sketch is done, you will use a traditional tool called "Canting" to apply hot wax on your sketch. This is a unique method used for more than 100 years to decorate motif on fabric. The next step is coloring. You can paint your fabric with any of the beautiful fabric dyes we have in our workshop. You can even mix custom colors. Paint your batik with bursts of color and voila you have completed your own batik masterpiece. This an easy process and is fun for the whole the family! After the drawing and painting part, the activity is done. Our team will quickly dry your fabric so that you can take it home with you. Another option is to use the batik as a handkerchief, in that case, you need to wait for 4 hours or come back the next day to collect your final piece of artwork. Other optional services with extra charge are as follows: - sewing the edge of the batik (RM10) - courier service of batik to your home ( fees depends on location)

The batik experience was one of my favorite things to do in Kuala Lumpur. The young woman who guided me throughout the process was exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. I *almost* felt like a pro when I was done. Highly recommend.

Great time seeing beautiful hand made batik and comparing it to our terrible attempts. At least I can force my partner to put it up at work and pretend he likes it.

If you are looking for something to do on a hot day would recommend. Briefly learnes about it. Try it out at least once. Wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but but it's a process. It's a great souvenir to being back home. You have the option to take it back as is which takes 10 mins to dry with wax left on or you come back the following day to pick it up with wax taken off.

Such a peaceful, fun & creative experience! Everyone was so helpful and making a batik scarf is a one of a kind souvenir! The shop is excellent as well, picked up batik shorts, scarves and tops for the whole family. Look for Ms. Carol she is extremely helpful, patient and has great suggestions when it comes to items on the shop. The actual process of using wax and paints to make your own batik was a once in a lifetime experience! Thank you!

The staff gave easy and clear instructions. There were so many different designs to choose from! If you want to use it as a picture you don’t need to come back, but if you want to be able to wash it you need to come back the next day.

Excellent activity for family with teens. We really enjoyed this, a highlight of our trip. We were shown the different stages of batik making and then able to chose a template to stencil, how to use the hot wax, and colour and left to it, with help on hand if we needed it. We love our paintings and the whole experience was super fun. Highly recommend.

  • Chilled Batik painting class

This was a fantastic hands-on experience from start to finish. Welcoming staff, spacious workshop area, and excellent explanations about the process of batik painting. From choosing your own design, tracing, waxing, and painting at your own pace with a teacher helping you at every step, offering advice whenever needed. A very rewarding experience for those who are interested in trying something different or are an arty, crafty person. This is an activity worth doing if you have the time and need a few chilled out hours. Allow extra time in KL if you want your batik painting processed. Such good value.
