What To Expect

Malta National Aquarium

The Malta National Aquarium has 52 tanks, including reptiles, insects, and amphibians, as well as Mediterranean fish, including fish that can often be found in Maltese waters, and historical artefacts that can be found in the seas around the Maltese islands. The main tank inside the Aquarium measures 12 meters in diameter and contains a walk-through tunnel that allows visitors to see the fish much closer. A variety of Indo-pacific animals are housed here, including black tip sharks, zebra sharks, rays, and other exotic species. An iconic curved shell structure resembling the shell of a starfish houses the Aquarium. The adjacent promenade provides pedestrians with additional recreation facilities, which include a children's play area.

The queue to get in took us an hour and thirty minutes only to find when we got in there was only one person issuing tickets and the other staff were just standing around. The wait was unfair and spoilt our mood, my children were bored and fed up. The aquarium was just average and if I’d known how long the wait would be to get in we wouldn’t have bothered.
Rubbish do not go anywhere near.Stupid place.

The staff and general public were rude to us and had pushed through someone with a baby.Also children were not looked after and were kicking a push chair. The aquarium itself was too crowded and the rooms were too small.All around you were rude people and tight spaces.I was only there for 45mins cause a baby in my family was crying this just shows you how crowded it was.Should 100% be free it was rubbish for the high price we paid for all the tickets.It was best for no one a huge waste of time.I had the worst time of my life that’s my opinion and I know others will agree massively with me.

It was an amazing experience! My wife and I really enjoyed every moment of it! The place is really organized, clean, the staff is pleasant. So many different specimens of sea life, and the first time we saw sharks. Also, the Italian tour guy (sorry we can't remember his name) was excellent giving information and making it interesting at the same time.

Spent an hour or so, very well laid out and plenty to see. The tunnel was pretty amazing. Don’t forget to look out for the albino stingray with no tail!

I first visited the aquarium when it opened 13 years ago. I've been a few times over the years. I wanted to see what it is like now so recently revisited The ticket price is reasonable for what you see. If you book online through their website you get a bit of a discount compared to buying on the day. I got there early and it was already busy. You have to be patient and wait to see into the exhibits. I went on a Saturday so I'd imagine it's less busy during the week over winter. The visit lasted just over an hour. You may need to allow a bit more time if it's really busy. From the Mediterranean sea, to tropical seas, The sunken submarine and rainforest area to many more exhibits there is plenty to see. There are talks throughout the day, for example the baby sharks. There is a thrill ride towards the end. Staff a friendly and helpful. Ask any question Whether it's for a date with your partner or a family visit You'll enjoy the Malta National Aquarium

A good place to visit for an hour or a bit longer , see fish and baby sharks along with other marine life. Very interesting to see and read about their natural habitats from around the world.

A lovely little aquarium with lots of different marine animals. Our daughter absolutely loved it! They have interactive boards next to the tanks so you can find out all about the fish and sea life in each tank which was great! It took us about 1 hour to walk around in total but we didn't choose to do any of the extra activities such as the feeding experiences etc.

With tickets purchased online 30 minutes before arriving, we were not allowed in because that day they had a private event. No information was sent to us and no rating appeared on their website. Next thing you need to do is request a return of tickets in a mail, plus the waste of time crossing half an island, more time requesting a return of tickets. Amazing management!!!

The fish were well cared for and the environment was very pleasing. It was clean and tidy...but. There was a fundamental lack of signs. You go to an aquarium and you want to know what exactly you are looking at. Occasionally, there was an interactive tablet-styled screen which gave some info, but it wasn't always accessible. This is why it only gets 3 stars. Well worth a visit, but know that there's just not enough info for an aquarium.
Great exhibits, reasonably priced, excellent on site restaurant.

Really good aquarium, kids under 4 free entry helps! There is a good focus on local Mediterranean fish species plus some more exotic world tanks. Validated parking at either the aquarium or restaurant. On site restaurant is really good quality with a good range of kid friendly, local and Asian menu options. Excellent views across to Comino and Gozo. Prices are reasonable.
