Costa Rica is spectacular. We were fortunate to be able to kayak on a river that had an abundance of birds, fauna and numerous types of trees. Our guide, Marlong, did a wonderful job of pointing out the different varieties and their special features which helped them survive. We kayaked at a leisurely pace and took a break at a turtle nesting area. This was not the season for nesting, but we could appreciate the conservationist who come each year to protect the nests.

Our guides, Christopher and Brandon were knowledgable and entertaining. They pointed out a lot of interesting wildlife and explained the advantages of mangroves in the ecosytem and the interaction of the plants and animals in them. It was great to have a view from the river. They also provided a snack of fresh pineapple and watermelon and water and fruit juices. A really worthwhile kayak outing with a crocodile-sighting conclusion.

We were picked up directly from the hotel by our guide Chris. We drove along the river and through mangroves to the sea. We saw lots of animals and plants, which our guide was very knowledgeable about. We even saw a small crocodile from a distance. At the end we were given drinks and a fresh pineapple. Despite the effort, we would do it again anytime!

We booked a few excursions through Book with Maria. We had a wonderful experience kayaking the Ora River mangroves with Luis from @tico.experience. He was a wonderful guide, pointing out the flora and fauna of the river - we even saw some baby crocodiles! It was a very nice kayak to a lovely beach spot where we had some fresh fruit and enjoyed the views. That same afternoon, we had booked the kayak and snorkel to Chora Island with Luis again. There were 2 other couples booked on this tour as well. It was a nice kayak out to Chora island with some nice snorkeling - smallish area to snorkel and a few other tour companies were there but it did not feel too crowded on the beach or in the water. Luis was even kind enough to pull over when there were monkeys ahead in a tree so I could take some photos as I had not seem them yet on our trip. We then went to Arenal a few days later with the same guide and had a wonderful time visiting the hanging bridges and seeing sloths/monkeys/other wildlife. We were grateful to Maria's company for helping us book our tours. She also helped to arrange our transport from Samara to Las Catalinas.

We had to go in the afternoon because of the tide had to be high. We were a little worried about the heat but it was fine. Alex was our guide and he did a great job. He was able to spot wild life and was very informative. Refreshments after the first leg of our trip was much appreciated. Thank you Alex for a great afternoon. I would definitely recommend this activity.
