We're big fans of Mangwon market because most of the vendors are second-generation, meaning they've really upped their game.
Markets aren't just about cheap street food anymore. Nope, they're also home to some of Korea's most sought-after treats, like Hanwoo beef. Even old-school tofu have had a gourmet makeover and can now hold their own alongside other delicious delights. You've gotta try 'em all!
And to wrap up, we're hitting up our favorite Korean Fried Chicken joint!

We highly recommend this experience with her - the market is smaller than others and the personal service the vendors provide her made all the difference. We would do it again!

5.00This was easily one of the best food tours my partner and I have been on (and we have been on a few). Jay was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and prepared an itinerary which allowed us to try a wide variety of Korean dishes. We were so full by the end of the tour (so make sure you don’t eat beforehand) and we felt like we gained a deeper understanding of Korean food and found some new things we may never have eaten ourselves. Particularly the Mangwon market was very cool, not touristy or over-crowded with lots of amazing food. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, so far a real highlight of our trip to Seoul. Also, Jay has excellent English which really helped with the tour.

We've gone on many food tours around the world, and our experience has taught us the importance of having the right guide. Jay exceeded our expectations! She is a very thoughtful and knowledgeable guide and has organized this experience perfectly. Even if you've tried some of the food before, you will enjoy the quality of the food on this tour. Best versions of typical Korean food we've ever had! We also tried some new food and drinks that we loved. This tour was a highlight of our overseas visitor's experience (and OUR best tour in Korea in 15 years!). We highly recommend it. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Jay!

She answered all our questions and helped us give a better understanding of Korean foods. This also helped us a lot with Korean foods after we travelled to Busan. 5.00Jay was our guide and she was a true local living in the area. We not only ate a well curated selection of foods but we learned so many fun food facts along the way. Jay has such an engaging personality and interacted with each of us throughout the evening. She was so organized and prepared which made our eating experience enjoyable and not at all messy. She even thought to purchase drinks for us at the beginning of the tour. After the market she took us to a fantastic fried chicken place where we all sat down together. We had so much fun getting to know each other. The evening ended with a delicious dessert. Our favorites were the flavorful meatballs and the fried chicken. We’ve been on many food tours and feel this one was presented with a lot of thought and effort put into it.

5.00My friend and I took the food tour with Jay and she was very knowledgeable and prepared for our tour. Mangwon Market has a very local feel to it and Jay seems to know all the vendors. Because her rapport with them is good, they told us several interesting things about their foods and they were obviously very proud of their dishes. Jay taught us a lot about the different drinks in the convenient store, fruits in Korea, and many other fun facts. I would highly recommend this food tour.

5.00Our tour guide, Jay, was very knowledgable about the food market offerings. We first stopped by a grocery store to get drinks. She made some great recommendations - and now I'm hooked on Barley tea with scorched rice! We feasted on multiple types of jeon (korean pancake), tteokbokki, gimbap, pork meatballs, hanwoo beef (delicious!), Korean fried chicken, and hotteok. She also taught us a Korean drinking game! All of the food and drink were included in the price of the tour - it was so educational and a great deal! Thank you so much, Jay!
