Starting at 08:00am from Bucovina region - Suceava city or Gura Humorului town and finish in Sighetu Marmatiei town or upon request nearby villages, this private tour is covering 300 km scenic full day trip where you will discover the land of Maramures where the history and legends are so alive that the modern civilization could not spoil its genuine culture. The folk culture is present in every day life as it used to be in the old times.
The Maramures region is a place where the purity of nature blends with the beauty of the old villages, a place where the locals kept untouched their traditions, a place where the carved wood represents a common way of building.
From starting point will drive about 2 hours crossing the Carpathian mountains to reach in Maramures area and then will drive @20-30min between each sightseeing point.
Upon request we can offer a reverse trip start in Maramures - Sighetu Marmatiei or nearby village and to finish in Bucovina region - Gura Humorului or Suceava.

Mestecanis
Starting from Bucovina area we'll drive toward Maramures region, crossing the Carpathian mountains trough Mestecăniș Pass- 1100m and you'll admire the place where the purity of nature blends with the beauty of the old villages.
Ciocanesti
In Ciocanesti village from Bucovina you'll enjoy of smooth walking and be able to admire the locals’ houses with decorated facades with geometrical and floral motives copied from traditional costumes.

5.00Another great day with Sebastian, always as friendly. The car was comfortable so much the better because the road is long Maramures.. On the second day to reach Cluj Napoca we were with Florin , such kind and very kind. Thank you 2
Maramures and wooden churches

5.00We had a 2 day tour of the Maramures wooden churches with Sebastian of AXA travels. We'd spent the day prior visiting the Painted monasteries with Sebastian. Sebastian is a great driver and the car was very comfortable. He was keen to show us other features of life in the local villages and towns such as carved gateways, decorated houses and old homes. Some of the wooden churches were locked but Sebastian had the contact details for the caretakers and was able to ring ahead to have them opened. Day 2 of our tour was a Sunday so we were able to see one of the church services with some of the parishioners in traditional dress. Our meal breaks on the road were at restaurants with delicious traditional soups. Overnight stop was at Pensione Ardelean and Romona was the host. The pensione was lovely and clean with delicious home cooked dinner and breakfast. We had a great tour and couldn't have seen all this without Sebastian.
It was a fun tour.
