A surprising cosmopolitan city with a rich history and interesting present. We visited Notre Damme de la Garde, the old city port, Longchamp palace with his art collections and Panier quarter (I called it "the Montmarte" of Marseille). Thanks of our guide we discovered many secrets of this special part of France.

Our guide Marine provided insights on Marseille history and evolution as expected in the description. But, she also went well beyond in talking about the artist, architects and political characters who shaped the city and its evolution. All of this while we were seeing and learning about the living city of today and its people and character.

This area is a "Do Not Miss" when visiting Marseille. Lovely winding, quaint streets with lots of interesting street art and great small cafes and shops. I think this is one of the best parts of Marseille. Do not miss strolling around and enjoying this area.
