The tour operator does not tell you that much time will be wasted driving into Jerusalem to pick up in the morning, and drop off tourists at the end of the day. When coming from Tel Aviv, this adds about 1 1/2 to 2 hours with the heavy Jerusalem traffic. Also, this tour is combined with tourists going to the Dead Sea, to the mineral Spa, and to Ein Gedi. This cut into the time we had a Ein Gedi, which was actually quite nice we saw a herd of ibex up in the hills. Could have spent another hour there, but had to pick up the other tourists from their destinations and then back to Jerusalem to drop those folks off, which added more time to the trip. Masada was well worth the hot sun.

Actual tour received was not the tour I had booked. I booked this tour expecting a visit to Masada and the Ein Gedi Nature Preserve. What I received was a shorter than expected visit to Masada, NO visit to Ein Gedi, an unexpected stop at a Dead Sea cosmetic factory, and an unexpected visit to the Dead Sea. This tour is falsely advertised! The visit to Ein Gedi was scrubbed because of a potential for flash flooding. On returning to Tel Aviv our driver was going to drop us off a couple of blocks from our hotel in the rain. This we refused and insisted on being taken to our hotel, which is in accordance with what is stipulated in the purchase price of the tour. We did not receive what was advertised.

We were unable to go to Ein Gedi which was the main reason for choosing this tour. The stop at the Avaha factory was totally unwelcome. Masada was a good tour. We did not want to go to the Dead Sea and were obliged to go there with the rest of the trip. The resort was very second-class.

I happened to go on this day tour on a day that it was pouring rain in the desert. Despite the crazy weather while at Masada, we did have the chance to see a waterfall in the distance from the flash floods. Apparently this is something so rare and it was interesting to see. The rain did not stop our tour and it was still enjoyable. The only issue was that Ein Gedi was closed due to the rain earlier in the day. So instead, we had the option to go to the Dead Sea. This was a wonderful day tour that I would highly recommend.
