Witness the dawning of a new day atop Haleakala (the house of the sun) a dormant volcanic mountain overlooking Maui on the east side. Deep canyons and slopes and unspoiled terrain are home to endemic Hawaiian Nene geese and rare Silversword plants.
You'll be transported in a comfortable mini coach to 9,740 feet elevation, close to the summit to witness the ultimate sunrise; a spectacular show of lights and colors. The sunrise tour is an unforgettable experience and a definite must-do on your Hawaii vacation. On the descent, marvel at sprawling scenic views of Kula and the Pacific Ocean on your way to breakfast at local favorite, Cafe O'Lei at the Plantation in Waikapu.

Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 72 hours before going on this tour.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Preston was wonderful, very informative and entertaining. Highly recommend this experience and appreciate Preston not rushing off the summit. Take more layers and winter clothing with you! Highly recommend gloves, especially if you want to hold your phone/camera. Very windy and much colder than by the beach - remember you are at 10k feet. Breakfast was wonderful as well and much much warmer! First time being on the islands but it will not be the only time.

Preston was a thoughtful guide and incredible custodian of Maui culture and history. If you are fortunate enough to be on his tour expect clever wit, detailed narration, and the keys to a once in a lifetime experience. Dress for extreme cold and wet conditions at the top so you do not have to miss the miracle to save your frozen fingers and face! Mahalo from Las Vegas ❤️

Incredible experience and Preston was amazing! Polynesian Adventure is a top notch company that really takes care of you. You will need to dress very warm in layers, it was in the 40s and windy. Once in a lifetime experience and you get too see so much of the beautiful island of Maui on the trip home from the crater.

The tour was incredible. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us plenty of information about the areas we were visiting. The sunrise was the most beautiful we’ve seen, we got lucky to have such a clear sky. This tour is a must do if you’re in Maui.

The mini bus was clean and comfortable for the winding trip up to Haleakala National Park. Our guide, Preston, was extremely knowledgeable and experienced with all aspects of the park. Preston had us leave the top of the park as one of the last mini-buses, so we could stop on the way down for more information and photo opportunities. The local breakfast was served at the Maui Tropical Plantation. The food was tasty, but the service was outstanding! We were very lucky to have great weather for the sunrise. I would definitely recommend this tour company! I am not very techy and could not find the photos that I imported from my iPhone. Sorry, the photos were spectacular!!!

Al was a friendly, knowledgeable guide — most importantly, he knew how to safely drive the road to Haleakala! Breakfast was great, too — highly recommend this trip to avoid the hassle of driving and trying to get a parking pass. One note — dress warmly, in layers, as the summit is very cold during winter months. Worth it to pack a parka, hat and gloves for the stunning sunrise.
