This tour company and guide was recommended to us from family who had taken it previously. Having never been to Medellín, this exceeded our expectations in both content, customization and personality. Our guide, Alejo , completely customized this experience based on our interests and backgrounds. He could speak across numerous genres and has traveled the country extensively leveraging his world experience into the unique history only found in Medellín. Don’t look for any other company than this one!!!!

My husband and I went on this tour with our friend. We were contacted the night before with the pickup time and name of guide. Natalia was very knowledgeable and explained everything about the city as we drove past. We rode the cable cars, walked up and down Comuna 13, stopped at a local farmers market, and a memorial park for the victims of Pablo Escobar. It was great having Natalia to help translate and add information to what we were looking at. We expected the tour to last 3-4 hours but Natalia had us scheduled for 6 hours. Just something to clarify if you’re on a timetable. Overall we had a great time!

This was our second tour in Medellin with Andres and equally rewording as the first one in the Concordia region. The tour was performed by a local that lives in communes 13 and raises a young child as a single mother, walking up stairs every day. She showed her neighborhood with pride, we listened to the stories behind the beautiful graffiti, visited selected galleries, took elevators and walked stairs. Andres offered additional point of views, showed us former gangs members making an honest living selling goods for tourists. Again having a guide like Andres who knows the history, respects the local culture and loves his city was invaluable. So glad we do this with him. On the way to communas 13 we made an important stop at the Parque Conmemorativo Inflexión which was built by the government in memory of all victims of Escobar. Getting the right aspects of this sad phase of columbias history was very valuable. Thank you for a memorable experience.

We had a great time on the Comuna 13 and city tour. Andres was an excellent guide and took a great deal of pride in the city! I especially enjoyed the Comuna 13 tour. It was so interesting and informative! If you are heading to Medellin, definitely book this tour. It’s one of the highlights of our visit.

The city was very green and beautiful, surrounded by mountains. I did a city tour and some horse back riding with Andres of Land Adventures and he was a great great guide. He provided excellent opportunities and commentary. I would highly recommend a tour with him. I never felt unsafe in Medellin. Just for comparison, the homicide rate is 16 per 100,000 as compared to Baltimore Maryland USA which is 50+ per hundred thousand.

We walked through Comuna 13 with guide Jeisson, booked through ‘With Locals’. He had lived there until the age of 22 and managed to touch us with the stories of his childhood, but also with his optimism and the opportunities he saw and took for himself. And also with the opportunities he sees for others and wants to help them with. Beautiful graffiti got so much more meaning with the explanation of why something was painted that way. Also the attention he gave to break dancing youth or old grandmas with a guitar and love songs made us very clear about life in that neighborhood. We tasted local delicacies that we would never have bought ourselves and drank a local beer overlooking Comuna 13 in a pub where there were no tourists. We have not felt unsafe anywhere and had wonderful tour!

The tour to Comuna 13 was one of the true highlights of our trip to Colombia. Andres and our Local guide from Comuna 13 really educated us on what happened, what it was like and what it’s like now. We spent the morning exploring not only the art work but the people and the lives of Comuna 13. It opened our eyes and our hearts. The system of escalators that has eased the climb up the hillside was impressive. After walking the Comuna we rode on Medellin’s Metrocable. The system of cable cars has opened up the other side of Comuna 13 by giving them easy access to the rest of Medellin. Thank you Andres for such a wonderful experience!!!

Comuna 13 is a must when visiting Medellin. Andres our guide along with a local guide took us through the alleys and history of the place and the graffiti art on the walls. It was interesting to know about those dark times that took place in Medellin.
