Bunratty Castle Medieval Banquet

Join the Earl of Thomond for a glorious banquet at this majestic 15th century Bunratty Castle. The Earl’s Butler welcomes guests from the four corners of the world toasting an era of great Irish taste with excellent food, fine wine, and honey mead. When you arrive at Bunratty Medieval Castle Banquet, a kilted piper plays a tune of welcome. You will ascend the Castle steps crossing over the drawbridge to the 'Bite of Friendship' offered by one of the Hostesses. Upon entering the Great Hall resplendent with tapestries and furniture of the 16th Century, savor a goblet of Mead while mingling with the Ladies of the Castle. The Castle’s history is related followed by a medieval Madrigal. Witness the crowning of the Earl & Lady before descending to the Banquet Hall where bench seating, candle-lights, and long oak tables reflect the Banqueting style of the medieval era. While partaking of a sumptuous four course dinner with fine wines, delight to the dulcet tones of the Ladies of the Castle accompanied by Irish Harp and Fiddle. The Butler seeks the Lords approval for all dishes brought before him. However, a scoundrel is revealed who must be brought before the Earl who decides his fate. The 35-minute spectacle which follows dinner is a superb selection of Irish medieval and traditional songs and instrumental music. The entire evening lasts two and a half hours.

Our group loved the experience of the Bunratty Castle Banquet. We had to book over a month in advance so book early. Well worth it and will be a highlight. The food was fabulous.

A fun evening enjoying good food and great entertainment. This is a must do event for anyone visiting Ireland. The entire event lasted about three hours, but the staff kept things moving well, and it seemed to be over so quickly for us

The banquet was wonderful. Setting, food, entertainment was outstanding. Only problem was a disconnect between Viator and Bunratty. Our reservation was not readily available at Bunratty. They accommodated us Turns out our seats were better than most.

The atmosphere was great just think you are in a castle for a meal. You’re greeted with a glass of mead wine then taken to the dining area for your meal. The down fall is we were seated on a bench with no back and our back to the entertainment. Be sure to set against the wall this way you have a back rest. You eat your meal with your hands only silver ware is a knife. No options for a fork unless you pass on the ribs and get a fruit platter. The meal was prepared to the era of the Castle. Very nice but had a back ace after the banquet was over.

Worth the experience of dining in a castle. Their presentation is also legal. However, the food is quite bad - leaves much to be desired for the amount charged. It has no taste. And when you sit down to eat, you can't even move the arms of so many people that they put, leave overcrowded, losing the quality of the show. I would never do it again.
