Pantai Melasti Ungasan
Melasti beach located at ungasan area, this beach has good access since the government develop the area almost the same time with Pandawa beach become a touristic area, but “Melasti” mean a Hindu Balinese purification ceremony and ritual, which according to Balinese calendar is held several days prior to the Nyepi holy day. It is observed by Hindus in Indonesia, especially in Bali. And thia beach become place to do that ceremony.
Padang Padang Beach
Padang Padang is popular surfing break with wonderful waves and good facilities. Or just bask in the sun – this little sand beach is perfect. You can also come across some monkeys there so do not leave your things unattended. You may remember the beach from the film Eat, Pray, Love. There are also plentiful food vendors and umbrellas for rent. The surfing break is offshore, but the waters in close are calm and there’s a good shallows area by the overhang. The prime surfing here is not for beginners. It’s a fast long pipeline on a shallow reef and has a reputation for being one of Bali’s nastier waves. Better for beginners is the gentle right hand wave, it is very forgiving. You don’t need to be a surfer though to hang out, the water is turquoise and the sand soft and yellow, it’s very pleasant and peaceful. It really does feel like a perfect beach while lounging under the shade of a big umbrella and staring out at the gentle blue waves lapping at the shore.

My driver for the day was Bayu and he was simply the best. He is so friendly and professional, plus a real gentleman. He always opened and closed the car door for me hehe. Also, his English is so good! We talkes a lot about Bali, Balinese culture and more. First stop was at the abandoned aircraft. Pretty cool and impressive though it's just a lookout point for a selfie. Next we went to Pandawa beach. It is so pretty! The waves were rather big though and there was a lot of sea weed, so after a short walk on the beach we both agreed to move on to the next beaches and spend more time there. Melasti beach was my favorite. It is beautiful, not the crowded, and both the beach and the sea were clean. I rented an umbrella and long chair and relaxed for a bit. Padang padang beach was impressive. Definitely worth a visit to get that Instagram perfect shot. However I found it a bit overhyped and overcrowded. I rented an umbrella but there were no long chairs on the beach. Tip: if you have water/swim shoes bring them. It was a bit of a challenge to get in the water because of the rocks and shells. Still a beautiful place though. If you have the option to choose which beach you want to spend more time at, I suggest staying longer at Melasti beach. Uluwatu temple was breathtaking! Views views viewsss! I loved it so much. Words can't describe how beautiful the waves crashing against the shore are. The kekac dance is definitely worth seeing. It is very unique. Dinner on the beach was soooo good! I had a table right next to the sea. Gorgeous views of the nearby cities and towns in the background. Clear sky with lots of stars. I even got lucky and saw 2 sets of fireworks go off in the distance! The dinner itself was yummy. I cannot recommend it enough! Thank you Bayu, I had an incredible day!
