The nation's most-popular whitewater rafting trip offers near-constant excitement from start to finish and is located just below the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Course. Many rafters consider the Ocoee’s intensity and difficulty “just right" with a greatest hit compilation of rapids. Highlights of the run—and there are many—include huge waves at Double Trouble, fast, frenzied currents at Tablesaw and the boat-drenching punch through Hell Hole rapid.

What To Expect

Located just outside of Chattanooga, the Middle Ocoee earns its title as “America’s most popular river trip” with continuous exciting rapids and big, splashy water in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Participants must be at least 12 years old for this intermediate trip. All minors (17 and under) require the presence of an adult during whitewater rafting activities. This trip is approximately 3-3.5 hours, with 1.5 hours on the river and the remainder of the time in trip preparation and shuttle. This trip does not include a riverside lunch. Dress for getting wet and wear shoes that will stay securely on your feet - flip flops are not appropriate footwear. Bring dry clothes & shoes for after your trip, there are changing rooms and showers available. In cool weather, avoid wearing heavy cottons; wear synthetic or wool.

Title says it all: Good fun, good people, great organization! For those who are new to rafting and traveling: Everything you wear will get fully soaked, don't wear shoes or clothes that might take days to dry in case you are traveling.

Henry was such a great guide and we did a lot of fun things. We loved the surfing underneath the water and the whole thing. He was sooo much fun. We can't wait to go again and book him.

We had a fantastic time on our rafting trip with the NOC! Shawn was our guide and he truly made our trip memorable! He gave us the history of the river and was very knowledgable about the rapids we would encounter. Safety was very important to him and he gave us instructions frequently incase we fell out of the raft. The entire trip was exciting and entertaining! We talked about it for days! Thank you Shawn!

We had a great time before. During and after this visit to NOC, the staff at noc was super helpful. They provide everything you could need. If it's a cold day or cold water, you can use there. Wetsuits and booties and cover-ups. You get life jackets and helmets and paddles the middle Ocoee is a great stretch of water with lots and lots of. Rapids, at every turn, so it's a very fun-filled day, very little float and paddling time, as you are going from one rapid to the next, we had a great time. Holly was our guide on the river, and she was genuine and friendly with us. A family of 4 had a great time.

Amazing! Trip manager, Jesse, was awesome. Fully convinced we had the best boat guide, Josh, he was hilarious, skilled and very knowledgeable. We can't wait to come back! What a blast!!

Amazing time on the Occoe River. NOC had clean and spacious facilities. The crew worked together to provide a safe rafting experience. Our guide, Ms. Judy was calm and reassuring even the river was not. She put our safety first and we were amazed at how quickly she was able to get us back in the raft when we went into the river. Ms. Judy is the best! Would definitely recommend this trip and outfitter!

A boatload of fun! Professional guides work as a team, great safety prep, and good communication of instructions. My friends were a bit anxious and we all had such a wonderful time, we hope to go again next year. Well done NOC!
