Our company is the single company offering hydrophone tours in the Icelandic whale watching scene. If the weather and the sea allow us we use our amazing hydrophone and give the passengers an opportunity to listen to the whales.

5.00What an incredible tour! We saw six different humpback whales, and the captain was so adept at getting us close enough to admire them, but not so close that we would cause any undue stress. In fact, this company partners with a non-profit organization called Whale Wise that does advocacy and research into whale watching tourism. Having actual scientists on board to answer all of our questions was such a treat, particularly because we could see how delighted they were to see individual whales that they have studied for months and even years. I also appreciated that the guide was very clear from the outset that the hydrophone might not capture whale song at this time of year, since the animals are busy feeding, so that just means that we will have to come back later in the season! Also, don't be worried about the word "midnight" in the tour's name; we left at 8:30 pm and were back by 11:00pm. We were warned in advance to wear warm clothing and they even offered us blankets, but it was cozy enough inside the boat so we could get back on the deck to see the majestic whales again and again.
