What To Expect
Milford Sound
Take a stunning Scenic Flight to Milford Sound from Queenstown, with our fly cruise fly package including a 2-hour Cruise. Milford Sound is New Zealand's premier tourist destination, and the sheer scale and staggering beauty of the fiord are experienced from all viewpoints. We will fly you from Queenstown over the Southern Alps with breathtakingly spectacular and endless panoramic views of lakes, forested river valleys, waterfalls, jagged razor-backed ridge lines and snow covered peaks. After landing at Milford we will choose whether to take the shuttle bus or, if time permits, take you on a short walk through the bush and foreshore to the cruise boat. Once on the boat, you will take a leisurely cruise along the whole length of the fiord. After the cruise, your pilot will escort you back to the aircraft for the return flight to Queenstown along a different flight path.

5.00First of all, we had to change the day of our trip due to weather. Viator made it so easy - we chatted with a rep and had the change done in 5 minutes. The trip itself was fantastic. They picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the check in location. That process was simple and quick. Jason, our pilot, took us (a total of ten people) to our plane and off we went! The views from the flight were beyond amazing. Jason did a great job pointing out landmarks and providing historical facts. One note: the speaker system and acoustics on the plane made it difficult to understand some things Jason was saying. The cruise of Milford Sound lasted about an hour and 45 minutes. The sights were breathtaking. Pictures and words don’t do them justice! Our captain was informative and humorous. After that Jason flew us back to the check in location and Viator provided transportation back to our hotel. We left our hotel at 7 am and were back by 1 pm. A fantastic six hours and Viator made it all so easy for us. I highly recommend this tour!

5.00We had an incredible time on this journey! True South made us feel very at ease about the flight, explaining every detail ahead of time. Our pilot was very communicative, and an excellent tour guide in his own right. The tour was beautiful, with out-of-this-world views. Would highly recommend this experience!

4.00Flight was amazing, Michael (pilot) looked after us very well and we felt quite safe in his hands Incredible views and great photo opportunities. The Milford sound trip was a little disappointing, no spectacular waterfalls due to dry weather, can’t be helped. The vessel wasn’t well catered. The coffee machine wasn’t working after we had been told complimentary tea and coffee, and very minimal food choices to purchase. Staff were all very friendly

5.00From the moment we were picked up and checked in, everything ran like clockwork — professional, friendly, and so well organised. Our scenic flight over Fiordland was breathtaking, with spectacular views of rugged mountains, alpine valleys, and pristine lakes that truly took our breath away. The pilot’s commentary added so much to the experience, pointing out highlights and sharing local insights. Touching down in Milford Sound was magical — then onto the cruise where we were surrounded by towering granite cliffs and majestic waterfalls. Pure Milford (the cruise partner) provided an engaging commentary, and the whole journey felt relaxed and special, very funny Captain!! We couldn’t recommend this experience more — a top-tier adventure and one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand. Truly worth every moment!

5.00Firstly, I must say that the experience was one that was fantastic in everyway. This was enhanced by the professionalism and experience of our pilot, Luke, and the whole team. We had some reservations in terms of the cost and as to how good could it possibly be. All that disappeared once we took off. From that time it just got better and better. What I expected to be an ok day turned out to be the absolute highlight of our trip. This is a must do for anyone visiting Queenstown and represents terrific value for money. If you came to Queenstown and did nothing else but go flying with True South (and Luke) you will have one of the best adventures possible.

5.00I flew with Michael on the Queenstown to Milford Sound return with a cruise. The whole process with True South was smooth. Their communications were clear, the pickup was bang on time despite Queenstown traffic and the flight to and from Milford was to put it mildly breathtaking. Michael was an awesome pilot and tour guide in one. The cruise in Milford Sound was also amazing. I had done a fjord cruise in Norway but Milford was more impressive. I highly recommend this activity. One tip if you do want to do this I would schedule it earlier in your Queenstown time in case weather impacts your flight and it needs to be rescheduled. The weather was perfect the day I flew so not needed.
