What To Expect
The day before the tour starts, your guide will contact you on behalf of our agency (Howlanders), to notify you of your pick-up time at your accommodations in El Calafate, (due to the tour’s different departure times throughout the morning). When the group has been gathered, you’ll head to the port ‘Bajo Las Sombras’, which is a few miles (kilometers) from the glacier viewpoint. If you do not select the package that includes the transfer, you’ll meet the group directly at Puerto Bajo Las Sombras, inside Los Glaciares National Park. From the port, we’ll take a boat and sail along the awe-inspiring south wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier. After disembarking, the guides will organize us into groups and begin the short walk to the Glacier. The guide will then assist hikers with their crampons, thus beginnning the incredible trek through the ice of one of the world’s most impressive glaciers.
Perito Moreno Glacier
For about an hour and a half, the group will traverse the glacier with our guides leading us on firm and safe trails. On these trails, we’ll have the opportunity to see the crevices, moulins (glacier sinkholes), and small blue lagoons located on the glacier. Throughout the tour, our guide will inform us of the many glacier landslides, as well as the endemic fauna and flora of the region.

5.00Absolutely incredible! The views were spectacular. The tour guide we had, Nico, was great. Very knowledgable, kind, and funny. Make sure you bring layers as it rained and was windy during our tour. Some people brought a change of clothes, which was a great idea. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour to all!

1.00The company that actually provides the tour is Hielo & Aventura. Everything, from the bus to the boat and even the helmets—belongs to them, so there’s no need for intermediaries. After completing the tour, I realized that booking through Viator had been a mistake, as the operator’s own price was about 120 USD lower. The tour itself, however, was excellent. Thank you to Hielo & Aventura for the great experience.

5.00A very memorable experience! The bus service was great , the tour guides were very well knowledgeable and friendly. You take a catamaran very close to the glacier, then it’s a bout a 1 mile hike to the area where they put the crampons on. It’s breathtaking up there a cool experience. Expensive excursion for sure but worth it. No lunch is provided so bring your own.

5.00The most wonderful experience we had in Argentina! Truly breathtaking and perfectly organised from pick-up to drop-off. Our guides were fantastic knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience even more special. Walking on the Perito Moreno Glacier was absolutely unforgettable: a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! It’s a bit pricey and I was also doubting to do it or not but I promise it was the best decision ever!!!! Do not miss the glacier walk if you visit Argentina!

1.00Scam. You can do this activity for 260USD if you just book through Hiero & aventura (they have a legit website), the only company that offers & runs these services on the glaciers. This company just orders the tickets for you on Hiero & aventura’s website and then charges you 130$ extra for it and they don’t even include the entrance fee or lunch. Hiero & aventura offers the activity for 260$, they are the ones who pick you up. You get the exact same experience as everyone else, even pick up. So unless you don’t mind losing money, go for this company.
