Cuilpilapan is a hidden gem! It and the Miravalles National park deserve more attention. They are both worth visiting. Nando and his family were very accommodating and kind. The camping area includes bathrooms, Wi-Fi, power, potable water, and showers. There is so much to do here! There are many trail that will take you to waterfalls, river pools, and lookouts. The trails are steep in many places, but some attractions are close to accommodate all. The Miradores are stunning. Even the views from the campgrounds were excellent. I particularly enjoyed star gazing. The Paulita waterfall is breath taking. The waterfall is in an amphitheater of rock surrounded by moss and ferns. You can swim in the pool below the powerful waterfall, and the cable bridge you cross to get there is neat! I mentioned river pools. There are many trails leading to beatiful pooling features in the river that are great for cooling off after a warm hike. The wildlife viewing was also excellent. We saw howler monkeys, spider monkeys, an agouti, and many more colorful animals, birds, and insects. There is even a resident sloth that lives near the camp grounds. You can choose to visit attractions with a guide or workout one. It’s really up to you. There are radios to check in with the headquarters. And binoculars you can use. The National park is right up the road and in walking distance. I was told there are not rangers that man the station, but there are a couple hikes from there. You can use the Cuilpilapan facility as your campground and home base. It’s worth it. Cuilpilapan is working on building a restaurant, but for now you should plan to bring your own food. I would definitely come back and visit again! What an amazing place.

The farm is beautifully maintained, with trails and viewpoints that distract you from the challenges of the hike. We visited both waterfalls—each offering something unique. The water's vibrant color was incredible, complemented by perfect weather and conditions. After hiking 10 km, a cold plunge in the waterfalls was the perfect way to finish the day. The owners' warmth and local knowledge enhanced the whole experience.
