What To Expect
Motu Tiahura
Discover the 50 shades of blue. The public beach of Tiahura is on the edge of a beautiful park. At your disposal, parking and a place to picnic in the shade. Another ideal spot to enjoy the landscapes that French Polynesia has to offer.
Opunohu Bay is one of Moorea's main bays. It is a magnificent site that has served as a setting for many films such as Les Révoltés du Bounty. The bay pass is called “Tareu” which means “sheltered” because this harbor is deep and well protected from winds to anchor boats. Opunohu means “the belly of the stone fish”. Opunohu Bay is three kilometres long and 80 metres deep. On September 30, 1777, Discovery and Resolution, ships of the famous navigator Captain James Cook, entered Tareu Pass. He describes its anchorage as one of the best natural ports he has seen in the South Sea Islands. This magnificent bay is full of stories and legends to discover.

2.00Most taxi drivers never heard of this place. Had trouble getting there, and found it was someone's house where they rented out a couple of scooters. The scooters were very uncomfortable after a short while. They also cannot go up any hills or dirt roads, so you won't get a "tour" of Moorea. And they didn't have any cargo boxes. They handed us a map that you could get at any tourist spot or restaurant that was almost useless.
