What To Expect
Sanjay Colony slum is not as large as “Dharavi” slums of Mumbai, however It covers an 18 acre area and has 45,000 residents. This area earlier was a forest when dwellers started coming to the area in 1979. Sanjay Colony slum visit gives an insight into the life of its dwellers where dwellers are busy in their indigenous cottage industries styled units. Although poor but the dwellers have got enough talent to earn their living their way. You will come across religious structures from temples to mosques, a small doctor’s office to schools and may garment making units. By showcasing the realities of slum life, our tour aims to dispel negative stereotypes and promote a deeper positive understanding of these communities.

5.00Great tour!! Very eye opener we really saw the life of the people in the colony explained in detail by Vijay who is really a local from the colony. We explored the type of jobs that sustain the families, how people obtain medical services, how kids go to school, we had a glimpse of the houses and walked inside the colony I highly recommend this tour with Vijay

5.00I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking to do something a little different in Delhi. It was one of the highlights of my trip to India—eye-opening, educational, and inspiring. It gave me a deeper appreciation for what I have while also showing the resilience and positivity of the Sanjay Colony community.My guide, VJ, was from the area himself, which made the experience authentic, respectful, and genuinely insightful. The tour was organised through Mr. Jai Singh, who also accompanied me and provided a refreshingly honest perspective. I really valued his openness and willingness to discuss not just the cultural richness of India but also some of the more complex aspects of its history, including colonisation, in a way that felt thoughtful and balanced. This experience was very different to the usual tourist sights—it gave me a chance to understand how people really live, and left me with a lasting impression.

5.00While planning to book an authentic local experience I was really hesitant to book this and arrived with some nerves around feeling safe in a slum environment. The pretour correspondence with Mr Jai Singh was awesome, the car and the driver arrived dot onntime and then i was taken to the "Sanjay slum", then i met the specialist guide from the local slums was incredible, super informative, personable and most of all compassionate about the lives of the locals. He proudly said that not a single beggar can be found in the slums and everyone is busy in their hard-earned jobs. I can't recommend this trip enough to experience the tough reality of one of the poorest but proud areas of Delhi. 10/10 Experience.

5.00This tour must be in your bucket list while visiting Delhi, I really wanted to experience how slum life works and this tour worked out really well for me. Trust me the slum life was totally different from what you expected. Perfectly safe to walk, meet the locals who are really nice. Everyone has got a piece of job and busy in rebuilding their lives. The guide and the agency were thorough professionals and passionate about their job.

5.00Visiting the slum will change your perspective on those who are less fortunate than you. Although these families do not have much, their laughter and friendliness are infectious. The children are playing and seem joyful. I am grateful for this experience. The guide provided me with great insight about the community because he is a part of it. Feeling grateful for the experience!!

5.00Excellent tour. Our fabulous guide Nisha was very knowledgeable as she has lived her whole life in the slums. We felt totally safe as 2 female visitors. The viator guide, Mr Bram, also stayed with us, and he was excellent. Pick-up and drop off were as arranged. We would definitely recommend this tour. We were even invited to have a traditional cup of tea with Nisha and her mother, we saw 1st hand how the family live. An experience we will never forget. Thank you so much.

5.00Our guide Victor was from this area. Having a local guide provides invaluable insights that a general tour couldn't offer. He explained and showed us how daily is here. How people work in the garment district. From the very beginning to the end. Everyone was so friendly especially the children. This highlighted the warmth and welcoming nature of the community, creating a memorable experience for us. We were interacting with the people, which is the best way to learn about another culture. I highly recommend this tour with Victor.

5.00Great experience, Viktor has been fantastic in giving us a real vision of the life in the slum. we also had the opportunity to visit the inside of the slum and it was really astonishing to see how they organize their life. don't think to a degradated place, is a micro-world where everybody have an activity and children have instruction. we warmly suggest this visit with Viktor.

5.00This awesome “slum tour” was a totally safe one, we found NO beggars at all and all locals were busy with their work and small-scale units / setups. The guide came from the local slum itself and was highly engaging, we were so proud that he was so fluent in English and also training other slum kids as the future guides. Slum dwellers are actually hardworking people always looking to work and live around the nearby manufacturing facilities. Many of them are fabric recyclers, mechanics etc. We also visited an English-speaking coaching centre run by an NGO, it was a fun place for the slum kids to get trained in English, since English speaking abilities fetch jobs quicker in India. Truly an overwhelming experience which we will always remember.

5.00An enlightening tour with a learning experience! Thank you to Mr Jay for the nice tour and. This tour connects with the people of the local community and make them feel comfortable while we watched their daily work and lives. Everywhere we were taken, people were friendly and welcoming. Although living in slums is a tough situation but that doesnot stops them to strive hard for a better life. Will definitely recommended this amazing tour company and this tour that gives back to the communities
