Everyone will meet at the local tour operators office in Mandalay. From here you will begin your ride, taking the back roads out of town. You will pass through fresh markets and lively neighborhoods as you head to the northeastern part of the city. After a short pedal you will find yourself in the countryside, where farmers tend to their fields and villagers go about daily rituals that have remained unchanged for decades. Water buffalo lazily roll in the mud, goats nibble at the foliage as friendly locals wave from all directions. As you continue on your bike ride we will stop at a fresh market where you will learn about the variety of produce offered. Next, continue on and see live bamboo weaving, used to construct roofs, walls, fans and more. Later, enjoy a walk in the countryside through a typical Myanmar village and learn about their way of life and the different crops they use. On the way back to town the tour will stop at a local tea shop for some delicious snacks and tea. Return to the departure location by 12 pm at noon. Your tour will conclude here.

I thoroughly enjoyed my bike tour. We saw temples and locations I hadn’t seen even after living in Mandalay for 5 months! Our guide was knowledgeable and cognizant of out physical abilities. After our tour I frequented several of the tour stops the following 5 months in Mandalay.

We did both the morning and sunset tours in Mandalay. In the morning, Than Htike Aung took us out to the market where we snacked on some delicious local food before heading out to the coutryside. It was quite a hot ride with little shade. The countryside was still mostly on the main bitumen roads so it wasn't so much the scenery that captivated us, as much as the workshops and seeing the traditional ways people continue to process goods. Than was a great, friendly and cheerful guide. He always checked up on us and gave information as we were cycling. In the afternoon tour, the van dropped us off out of town before we started cycling. We were very lucky to see one of the novice processions with children on horses, cows, and even an elephant! Wai Linn Aung was our guide for this segment as we cycled through the ancient city of Inwa. We stopped at some traditional family homes and he would explain how the families conduct their trade. It was an interesting, relaxing and shady ride while we visited the less touristy sites of Inwa and wound our way to Ubein bridge for a sunset boat ride. For both Mandalay tours the paths were easy to cycle and all relatively flat. However, the afternoon ride was a bit more pleasant as there was more shade and scenice views throughout. Surprisingly, there was no overlap between the morning and afternoon tours so they were equally interesting and definitely not touristy (besides the sunset boat ride at Ubein bridge). Would highly recommend a cycle with Grasshoppers. Two tours in a day was quite tiring though. If I were to choose only one, the afternoon was more enjoyable.

A great way to get out of the city and see the lovely countryside surrounding Mandalay. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and we really enjoyed our time chatting with him. The visits to local farms and tea houses were the highlights.

We had a great tour with our guide San. It was very interesting to meet and hear about the farmers and villagers and cycle in the countryside. Highly recommended. It was also my second trip booked via tripadvisor. Unfortunately when I had booked the tour, it didn't inform about where to meet. It just said Mandalay - so I had to contact Grasshopper via Whatsapp to get the specific dates.

Just had a tour with Wai Linn Aung, (Linn) he was very informative, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle amd bustle of the city. Visited a rice processing facility, a farm growing special mushrooms, a place where they made charcoal bricks, and also a local restaurant in the end, where we tried a few yummy local snacks and green tea. The scenery could have been a little nicer, but the local smiles made up for it. All in all, I can definitely recommend the tour.

Great experience with Wai Linn Aung, he is my bridge of communication with the local people & culture, we enjoyed the food & nice scenery. In additional, he is responsible guide, he will check the traffic and highlight to me if any road condition which must take extra care!

Fun morning on a morning cycling tour of Mandalay with Hlaing Phyo Oo and the team with visits to the market, the worlds largest book, through rice paddies to a local rice + mushroom farm and a traditional tea house. A great way to see the city and nearby villages and great food along the way. Highly recommend.
