The eight-day Lemosho route variation is the ideal schedule for this route. On the 8-day Lemosho route, the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken up into two days, allowing for a short day just prior to the summit attempt. This is important because summit day begins very early, around midnight, so climbers are sleep deprived going into the toughest day on the mountain. By having a short day beforehand, climbers can be better rested.

The eight-day Lemosho route is highly recommended and used by most prominent Kilimanjaro operators.

  • Kilimanjaro Lemosho and Machame route in 2 years

I have done 2 tour with Interpied Explorers, 2024 I did the 7 day machame route, 2 days later we did the Kilimanjaro marathon which was amazing. In 2025 I did 8 day Lemosho with my wife and my Colleague. The experience was beyond our expectations, the Team was not professional but very friendly. We felt like a family, we had a very good rapport. We became friends and a happy mountain family. They fed us with good food , fresh fruit nice warm tea and popcorn and my favourite meal , chapati. 😋😍. Our guides were incredibly nice , shout out to Opta,Alan and Freddy . Also a bog shout out to our incredible team of porters ,our cook and Alois our special waiter who took care of us. We have summited twice , machame route and Lemosho route with the same incredible team . Our plan is to do 5 routes if not all. Big thanks to Tarimo and the whole team ❤️❤️

My ascent of Kilimanjaro was undoubtedly the best week of my life! Everything was just right: The food was incredibly good, the team warm, professional and always motivating, and the whole organization went smoothly. The experience itself was indescribable – every day new impressions, great nature and in the end this incredible feeling of having made it. We did the Lemosho route in 8 days, which I can absolutely recommend. Perfect for acclimatization and scenically just beautiful. I will definitely come back!

  • This is the group to ascend Kilimanjaro with, period.

I went on the Lemosho Traverse of Kilimanjaro and the trip was led by Intrepid Travel (8 guests total in our group). I am writing this well-deserved review, but there will never be enough that can be said about how incredible our guides, our porters, our cooks, and just everybody on our team, was on this trip. They did the inconceivably difficult task of leading us up of the mountain, and not only this, they supported those who elected not to summit with love, empathy, and endless care to make sure that they too had an experience that was to their liking. So to say that they went above and beyond in the is truly the understatement of all understatements. The way they took care of us all along the way, making sure we had the most comfortable, enjoyable, and safe experience in the face of a mountain like this one is nothing short of heroic. Myself and the others who chose to summit would have had zero chance of making it to the top had it not been for this team, and not only of summiting, but of summiting and having a ton of fun and learning so much along the way. Most importantly, everyone on the team made sure to form true bonds with us and to make sure we were treated like family at the end of every increasingly difficult leg of the trek when we were in need of TLC. They didn’t want us to just summit, they actually wanted us to have an experience we would never want to forget, and they did everything they could and then some to make sure that happened, and they succeeded. If you are planning to head up Kilimanjaro, I would highly highly highly highly recommend booking a trek up with Intrepid. They are simply a group that, if you have the opportunity to have them by your side on your adventures, you do not pass it up.
