If you are not quite sure whether you are ready for a full Kilimanjaro adventure, you might want to take one of our shorter Kilimanjaro trips via Marangu route. Only one day on the mountain will be enough to give you a full picture of what it takes to be part of a Kilimanjaro trekking expedition.
This adventure is perfect if you travel with children who are not ready for the full hike yet, or if your holiday is too short but you still want to enjoy the trip.
A one-day Kilimanjaro trip leads you up to Mandara Hut and back to the entry gate.

What To Expect
Kilimanjaro National Park
Our guides will arrive at the hotel in the morning to meet you and hold a quick briefing, after which you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro National Park's eastern entrance: Marangu Gate (1,860 m/6,046 f)). After the quick formality of registering the climbing permits and registering with the rescue service, the group will start trekking up to Mandara Hut (2,700 m/8,858 ft ). The trekking route includes a passage through the rainforest where tropical showers are highly probable, so we recommend taking raincoats. When you reach the camp, you will be provided with lunch-boxes. After lunch you can take a hike to the beautiful Maundi Crater nearby. It will take about 30 minutes, after which you will start your descent down to the exit of the park - Marangu gate. There our driver will pick you up and drive you to your hotel in the town of Moshi.

A magnificent hiking baptism of Kilimanjaro

5.00What I particularly loved about this magnificent experience is the interaction with the driver, who is a well of knowledge: he talked to me a lot about the Kisuahili language, the natural reserves/parks/mountains and cities to visit in Tanzania, the different tribes one encounters, the specific fruits of each city he is driving through... about Tanzanian culture. Finally, when the hike on Kilimanjaro began, I was immensely impressed by the beauty of the ecosystem found there: full of vine trees, species of monkeys, and the abundant variety of birds. Even the sound environment is interesting: you listen to the different melodies of the birds and the sounds of monkeys communicating with each other. And of course, when you reach the highest point of the hike, there is immense pride in having been able to (thanks to the guide) arrive at this spot. The only downside is that the hike is so beautiful that one wants to go further towards the summit (of course in several stages with shelters), and not immediately return to the base camp.

5.00The tour was fantastic. Thel park is beautiful and we had such a great guide. He was so friendly and answered all our questions. And the cook was brilliant. The food was so incredibly good! On top of all that, sleeping in tents between you was just unique! I would recommend it to anyone!

5.00Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut:- ▪️Route: Marangu Gate (1,870m) to Mandara Hut (2,720m). ▪️Distance: Approx. 8km ▪️Duration: 4-5 hours ▪️Accommodation: Mandara Hut Dress code: Base Layer: Basic Breathable shirt and hiking pants. Foot wear: walking shoes / sketchers / sports shoes. The trail was not intimidating and it didn’t require much energy. Moving at sustainable pace, we made it to Mandara Hut in under 4 hours 😀
