Travelers should have a high level of physical fitness
Make sure you have shoes with good grip (Tennis or gym shoes are fine), bring enough warm clothing, (wind and water-proof clothes), a water bottle, high-energy foods (like chocolate, nuts, raisins or glucose sweets), gloves, hat, good torchlight, a complete set of dry clothes, a second pair of shoes or a pair of sandals, headache tablets, paper tissues, a couple of plastic bags, some plasters for cuts or blisters.

What To Expect
All meals, entrance fees and accommodation are included. You’ll hike approximately 7 miles (12 km) round-trip and your guide will always be available for assistance and support. There will be plenty of breaks along the way to rest, take in the scenery and refill your water bottles.

5.00Wanted to challenge ourselves to climb the Malaysia’s highest mountain and thus decided to go with a group of friends. The price ranges depending on what type of package you would want to sign up for. You can choose the package where you stay a night at the mountain starting point before you start climbing the next day to acclimatise to the altitude. TYH is really patient towards answering our queries as this is our first time climbing Mt Kinabalu. Everything went very smoothly under their care as everything has been nicely arranged. Definitely will book with them again in the future!

5.00Our agent was very responsive all the way from asking about the package, to asking questions during the trip regarding to our situation etc. We had a few requests which they fulfilled etc giving us the guide we want or arranging transport differently then the default package. I highly recommend this agency to anyone interested in visiting Sabah!

5.00I would like to express my appreciation to John Tan from TYH Borneo, who arranged a 3D2N hike to Mount Kinabalu. This was my second hike to Mount Kinabalu and highly recommend TYH Borneo Tours and Travel. My first island hopping tour in Sabah was also arranged by John. John was very attentive to details for our group of 9 hikers from Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak and Singapore. In his efficient, experienced, polite manner, he addressed every of our concerns and arranged for additional guides/porters well in advance for our trip. The pick up and transfers were punctual and smooth. The bus ride was comfortable allowing us to relax, nap and re-charge. On our first night, we stayed at the scenic Hill Lodge at Kinabalu Park. Dinner served at the restaurant was really good. The next day we took 6 hours to climb to Panalaban base camp and stayed at the Laban Rata resthouse on our second night. The room was pleasantly warm and cosy even when there was rain, lightning and thunder outside on the night. Luckily the storm cleared in time to reveal starry skies for our summit push. It was breathtaking and we managed to catch the sunrise with its golden and blue hues. On return to Kota Kinabalu, we extended our stay a few days. John gave excellent tips on iconic delicious sea food, local foodie places, shopping and sea activities. With many wonderful memories and knowing there are more treasures in Sabah waiting to be discovered, I am planning to come back soon! Thank you John and TYH Borneo!

5.00TYH was highly recommended by a friend who was a repeat customer. I was happy to receive the same high quality of service. We were climbing Mt Kinabalu. John from TYH managed to secure a private dorm for our group at Laban Rata - came with a private toilet so that was most helpful. There was some miscommunication on the number of guides we were supposed to get but John quickly sorted it out and made sure we had two guides for our group, which turned out to be very useful since different members of the group ended up hiking at different speeds to the summit. John was very responsive, answering my questions even late at night though I was not expecting it. All the transfers from the time we left the airport till we returned were punctual and everything went smoothly. John also gave great recommendations on post-hike massages (sorely needed) and restaurants.

5.00The 6 of us visit Kundasang for 2 days. The next night, we felt that it was not enough, so we temporarily changed the itinerary and stayed for another day. TYH Borneo also tried his best to arrange for us and was very polite and accommodating. the tour leader Eddie,, is a very good and patient young man. He tried his best to assist us with everything and helped us take many beautiful photos. Appreciate and thank you Eddie and TYH Borneo. I will introduce more friends to TYH Borneo travel agency.
