It is a pleasant day trip in Catania. The guide Simone is nice and helpful. I and my friend really enjoyed it.

My dad and I booked the tour just one day in advance. Shortly after booking, we received a message with the pick-up details, and our questions were kindly and promptly answered. It was possible to rent hiking shoes, although we didn’t end up needing them. That evening, Eduardo, our tour guide and driver, messaged us with the exact meeting time. Pick-up was scheduled for 8:30 AM, and Eduardo was right on time. We started the day in Taormina, followed by a wine and food tasting, and ended with a visit to Mount Etna. The order turned out to be perfect: Taormina was cooler and less crowded in the morning, the tasting fit nicely around lunchtime, and Etna was the grand finale. Everything was well organized, the group was great (7 people), and the tasting was delicious. Our whole group decided to take the cable car and bus up Etna, and while it’s a bit pricey, it was absolutely worth it, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I had been a bit worried about whether my dad could manage the walking, but it turned out to be very manageable. The tour is suitable for almost everyone. Eduardo was incredibly patient with us. Even though the tour went longer than planned, we still made it tothw lava tube, a nice addition to the tour. We’re now on our way back to Catania (it’s 6:20 PM), and I couldn’t be happier with this day trip!

Our tour guide Francesco was an absolute legend. Always friendly, with a smile on his face, and laughing with each of us. This tour covers Mt Etna and Taormina in one day so it’s perfect to cross those both off. When you get up to Etna, it is absolutely ESSENTIAL you pay for a quad bike (€130 p/bike - max 2 persons = €65 each) and the cost is worth this rare thrilling experience. The tasting following is brilliant, samples of great Catania wine, liquors, oil, jams, etc. make this a fun interlude before an afternoon of free time in Taormina. In Taormina, go straight to the Teatro Antico (Ancient Theatre) first and book your online ticket along the way so you can skip the queue. Retrace your steps of the city back to the driver and you can cram quite a lot in a small time. A wonderful tour and an excellent tour guide — money well spent!

Very nice. Carmel a crack. Tour with a couple from Mexico, a priest from Portugal and a girl from England. Carmelo explained in Spanish, English and Italian. Great food and drink tasting. In the mountains, we highly recommend the four-wheelers (at extra cost)

Do not book with this company. There are several better options. You need special, warm clothing for this tour. When I arrived to Catania, my luggage was lost by the airline. It was not delivered for three days. I had no clothing to wear for this tour, so I tried to cancel on the day of the tour, which was the day my luggage never showed up. The tour operator refused to allow me to cancel with a refund. In this case, there should have been a special allowance made because it was totally beyond my control and there was no way that I could hike the mountain with high heels and dressy travel clothes on. Because of EtnaTribe’s unwillingness to accommodate my unique situation, they took more than $100 of my money without regard to reasonable business practices and common sense. Their business policies are questionable and I would never book any tour whatsoever with them. Choose a different tour company. Don’t give this agency your business. I rebooked on a different day with a different company, SAT. They provided an excellent experience that was well worth my money. Try them instead of EtnaTribe.
