• Scotland Private tour With Dave!

  We hired Dave as a private guide and driver for 8 days. We started in Edinburgh on our own for 2 days and then he picked us up from the flat we rented and off we went. Dave was very entertaining, kept us laughing and we felt safe. It was me, my daughter and two of my friends. We went from Stirling, to Glencoe and stayed at the Glengarry Hotel first for 2 nights. He would drop us off each night and pick us back up in the morning. He always helped us with our bags and opening the van doors each time we were getting in or out. We also headed to Isle of Skye, Isle of Harris and Lewis, Inverness and Pitlochry, then dropped back off at EDI. We loved the stories and folk tales. He never rushed us and we were able to change things up if we ever needed. • Fun and Insightful Private Tour of Scotland

  We spent 3 days around Inverness covering Lochness , Isle of Sky with Dave in a private tour with my husband, 9 year old son and myself. We had a great time with Dave, where we learnt about history and tales of the different places and Scotland through Dave humorous stories. Dave is a powerhouse of information and an amazing story teller. He was very responsive in all our queries and took into account our interests while Planning the itinerary.

  Our group of 3 ( 2 seventy year old and 1 twelve year old) just returned from a 6 day tour with Dave . The main focus of the trip was Castles , but I wanted to see Loch Ness , The Kelpies , the Harry Potter Train , some Cairns etc. Dave hit all the places I wanted to see and transitioned from one historical site to another smoothly. He filled in our route with interesting historical and or scenic stops . He kept the 12 year old fascinated and laughing at the historical commentary. Dave chose lovely bed and breakfast houses for our overnights , the highlights of which were The Highland Club at Fort Augustus and the Glengarry Castle Hotel .His recommendations for coffee, lunch , shopping , and even bathroom stops were spot on . I was completely relaxed with him as a driver which is a great compliment because the roads are narrow and winding and traffic flow is the opposite of what we are used to . I would highly recommend Dave if you are planning a trip to Scotland . You could not as for a more accommodating and organized travel guide . Also I would recommend Scotland as a travel destination . The scenery was beautiful and the people were friendly and the food was wonderful .

  Dave was an excellent tour guide. Gave us history and context for stops in a fun way. Knew great spots that were not overly crowded or too far out of the way, never was disappointed by one of his stops. Great driver, never felt unsafe despite driving on some pretty narrow and windy roads. Listened to what we wanted to do and was able to accommodate within certain constraints.

  If you just want an ordinary everyday guide Dave is not your guy! But if you want an interesting, fun guide with a witty way about stories & history Dirty Dave is your guy! He planed a great itinerary for the 4 of us & changed up things when we made some change requests. He also knows where the best restrooms are!! Highly recommended for a very unique trip in a comfortable vehicle. Would not hesitate using him again!

  Similar to others, I found Dirty Dave via TripAdvisor and booked per the reviews. I paused only for a minute as I was taking my parents to Scotland for a 70th birthday celebration, so there was quite the generational gap with our group. Within the first hour of the tour, I knew he was going to be spot on. Dave is so kind, a wonderful communicator (leading up to the trip and during the trip), quite the storyteller, charismatic, thoughtful, punctual, and the list goes on. He went above and beyond by helping with hotel and restaurant bookings, reservations, pop up tickets for quick itinerary changes, etc. By the time we left, we felt like Dave was an old family friend...might even include him on our Christmas card! Honestly my best advice would be to QUIT trying to perfect your exact itinerary and just TRUST that he will take you to the best spots (even the ones that only the locals know)!!!   There were 6 people in our group setting out on an 8 day adventure with Dave and his girlfriend (we are so glad she wanted to come along on our trip). The moment they picked us up, I knew we were in for a good time with people who truly cared about our experience. Dave’s VW touring van was very roomy, and had comfortable seating with plenty of room in the back for our luggage. They had a welcome bag for each of us on the first day filled with some Scotland goodies and made sure there was always water available for us. Dave had arranged everything with my aunt behind the scenes ahead of time so it was nice to have a little itinerary of what we would be doing. Dave was always timely with morning pick up and getting on the road so we could see as much as possible everyday. Dave and Leike sprinkled in lots of history and stories about where we were going and what we would be seeing. At times they even had songs to play that would tell the story as well. I felt an instant friendship forming and fun was had by all. Dave arranged the hotel stays, checked in for us, and carried our bags to our rooms (even the heavy ones). Dave knew where all the toilet stops were along the way, and all the good places for lunch. We were truly in good hands and didn’t have to worry about a thing. We would re-cap each night the plan for the next day so everyone was on the same page. I hope to return to Scotland someday and would definitely tour with Dave again.

  I happened upon Dirty Dave whilst researching for a mother/daughter trip to Scotland. The reviews all agreed Dave is funny, and perhaps a bit politically incorrect; high praise in my book. I reached out by email and Dave was very responsive. He asked me to send a wish list, from which he created a bespoke tour that exceeded all expectations. Dave took care of every detail, including amazing accommodations. Each evening we had the opportunity to talk about the next day's schedule and tweak it if we wanted to. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. We were so fortunate that Dave's wonderful girlfriend Leike joined us on our tour!! Besides the amazing schedule and beautiful accommodations, Dave and Leike always had water and soft drinks on hand, and they made sure there were plenty of bathroom opportunities. They both shared entertaining stories and insights on the magical landscape we were traveling through. When we stopped for meals in villages along the way, they had great suggestions for cafes and restaurants. When we arrived at our hotel, they took our bags to our rooms. We never could have seen and done all the things we did in six days had we rented a car and driven ourselves. Dave previously drove large tour buses, so we felt completely safe with his driving skills in his comfortable and spacious VW van. I would 1000% recommend touring with Dave!

  My mom and I spent 6 days touring Scotland with Dave and where do I begin?! The short of it is that we were so thrilled with our trip, enjoyed every minute, and would highly recommend Dave’s tour to everyone. As for the details… we decided to go to Scotland and had some locations in mind but were very overwhelmed with the idea of trying to fit in as many sites as possible and all the driving. So we decided to book a private tour for the schedule flexibility. There are many private tour guides online but Dave’s site had that “je ne sais quoi”… he seemed like a normal guy, professional, BUT like he wouldn’t take things too seriously and we could have some laughs. After emailing with him we were so happy to find that he was just that! Dave expertly pieced together our trip, organized the details, answered our million questions, and was generally so helpful. While on tour with Dave we loved that he offered as much or as little history as we were interested in that day. He allowed us to relax and enjoy the sites while he handled everything else. He was very good about giving us personal space or walking with us, totally dependent upon what we wanted. And most importantly, we loved our time with him and didn’t get even a little tired of him after so many days (can’t say that about everyone!). 100/10, would tour again, would absolutely recommend to others.
