Our guide, Yousef, was great. Took us to all the spots and explained the history and culture of the food and the country. I'd definitely recommend.

Great tour of the city and stopping at 5 places sampling a mixture of African and Omani food including a great street food stop. Mohammed was an excellent host and he was fantastic at explaining all the different foods and how it ties in with Omani culture. Thoroughly recommend!

It was a rather cheerful and interesting evening. We ate a lot of dishes that influenced the typical cuisine of Oman. We were explained in detail the history of the foods and our guide encouraged the knowledge of other guests

This evening tour with four guests and our driver/guide Ammar was an excellent experience of Omani food. There were five locations each offering a different experience. Sampling five different entree snacks with a sharp lemony dipping sauce kicked off the tour, followed by delicious goat Shuwa with Basmati rice and a tomato based sauce, best eaten in the traditional way using the right hand. A sink was handy for hand washing after the meal. Next grilled meats on skewers, while we watched night time dune driving, seasoned shrimp and octopus, chicken, goat and camel followed. As if that was not enough we were treated to Omani bread freshly prepared and filled with honey and lemon, zatar and cheese and Omani chips (not too sure of that one) all washed down with carak, like a spiced chai served with milk. We picked these up at a drive through and found an empty car park in front of a beautifully illuminated mosque, modelled on Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia. The final stop was to taste a wide variety of halwa a traditional sweet used in celebrations such as weddings. And to end the meal and tour we were offered perfume for our hands a traditional sign that it was time to depart. Excellent food, informative guide and places you may not find if you’re not a local.

It was a very informative and tasty experience - our guide (the owner of the company) was very friendly, knowledgeable and had lots of interesting stories to share. Every food we tried was new to us, from camel to a 3-day smoked lamb, and it was delicious. Highly recommended for any age really, we had a 10 and 14 year old with us and they all enjoyed it.

Honestly, I really do not want to give 1 star but the agency was really dishonest. 1. They were late by 30 mins. Poor planning. You should know that there will be traffic and should plan the pick up time properly. 2. There were 6 when the tour stated 4. Upon me complaining to Viator, they quickly changed the description to 6. Thank god I took a screenshot. 3. Guide was patronising us, minimal interaction, explanation and engagement. If you are so sick and tired of your job, then please don’t be a guide. 4. Squeezed us into the back seat despite telling him we have injuries and would not be able to. 5. Threatening me to remove the bad review on Viator before they do a partial refund out of goodwill. Excuse me, you were dishonest, how was that out of goodwill?! I wanted to let it go but upon reading the email, I want to tell the truth! I have photos as proof!

Guide was late Car was so uncomfortable. No planning on how to fill the car with passengers and especially when I have an injury. No passion about his country and not much explanation on the food, culture and way of living. He was just sitting there watching us eat and the atmosphere was so awkward. Also, the tour was supposed to be for a maximum of 4, but we had 6 which I had no idea why. We were not informed prior and I felt like I was being shortchanged or cheated by paying more than what was needed. The shops he brought us to had nobody and the ratings were not impressive. Wonder if it’s in collaboration to make money. Not recommended.

Our Muscat food tour was incredible! My friends and I had the best time exploring five different spots. The food was delicious, but the Shuwa and Halwa were definitely my favorites! Our guide, Hisham, was amazing. He was so full of knowledge and told us great stories about Omani culture. We learned everything—from the secret ingredients to how each dish is traditionally cooked. It wasn’t just a tour; it was like hanging out with a local expert. If you want to taste the real Oman and have a blast, you have to do this!"

The Omani Food Tour in Muscat with the guide Hisham was excellent. We tried delicious local dishes – shuwa, grilled meats, sweets, and tea. Hisham was friendly, knowledgeable, and showed us places we would never find on our own. A great experience, highly recommended.
