Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

This was such a fun experience! Met our guide Lou in downtown. Picked up a few other people along the way to the Musher camp. Lou was a great tour guide! Gave us lots of history of the area on the way to the camp and pointed out lots of eagles & wild life. Once we got to the camp, took a "unimog" which is like a military like vehicle up the mountain. The dogs were so excited when we got there because they know when people show up, they get to run! After our trail ride with the dogs and I believe the musher's name was "Matt" we got to meet the team of dogs and ask questions to the musher. But then the best part.. got to meet and snuggle with the puppies! Although we would have enjoyed more time with the dogs and the puppies, the whole visit was phenomenal and we learned al ot. Would happily recommend this excursion and would do it again if we ever get back to Alaska

This experience was my husband's and my favorite part of our trip to Alaska. The first part of the trip was on a bus, and the guide gave us information on the area and the things we passed as we drove. Once we got to the base camp area, we got on a Unimog, which was a big truck with giant tires. The rest of the ride to the dog sleds was rough, and a little scary if you were sitting on the edge, but it was fun, and the scenery was beautiful. If you like riding ATVs, it's a similar experience. When we got to the top, the dogs were already hooked up to the carts and ready to go. We got on the carts and the dogs took off, and we couldn't believe how fast they were. It was so much fun racing through the forest, and the forest itself just looks so unreal and magical. After we were done with our ride, we got to meet and pet the sled dogs, then we got back on the Unimog and rode down to a beautiful overlook where we took pictures. After looking around there for a few minutes, we finished our ride back to the base camp. At the base camp we met some retired sled dogs and learned more about the dogs and the Iditarod, which is the race the dogs are training for. Next we met the older puppies at the camp, then we got to hold the youngest puppies. After we were done we had a few minutes to look around the store and the coffee shop, then we got back on the bus and rode back to town. During the ride back, the driver gave us more information about the area and we tried to spot wildlife. I can't recommend this experience enough!

This was great!!!! Before you even see the dogs, the ride up the mountain in the Unimog was fun!! Then you get to the dogs. Walking in with four teams ready to go, all of them yipping and barking was awesome!!! The ride with them truly showed their power and stamina. Sixteen dogs pulled us. Talia was our musher and went on to explain about the amount of care that goes into taking care of a team that big, and she owns all 16. She was kind enough to not only take our picture in the cart but went on to take many close ups of her dogs too. That was a nice surprise. She even helped me get my book ‘signed’ when we got back to camp by one of the team. I am grateful for that! Then there were the puppies, that was the line that had me sold on this whole excursion. Cuddle time with the puppies was great. They didn’t disappoint. All in all, it was great and I recommend it. I could have done with less stops to view the scenery and a few more minutes meeting the team and holding the puppies, especially since you have to share with others.

If you love the sled dogs, this is the experience for you! We enjoyed being pulled by the adult team and being able to love on them after, meeting a couple of the newly retired dogs as well as the "teenagers" - of course holding the babies is always a highlight. If you're a dog lover - you'll love this! I felt it was reasonably priced for the experience. All transportation was provided, our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. This has been my favorite experience thus far.
