The muskoxen are unique, prehistoric animals, and you can only find them a few places in the world. One of those places is Dovrefjell, a beautiful National Park in Norway.
Together with our experienced guides, it is almost 100% certain that you will see this majestic animal during our safari. In addition, our guides will share their knowledge about other wildlife in the area, as well as the local history and culture.
Dovrefjell has a rich ecosystem, and there are good chances to spot other widlife such as eagles, ptarmigan or even wild reindeer.

During this safari, you will hike with our local guides in Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park to look for muskox. The muskox live in the mountains, so for this hike, you'll need waterproof hiking shoes and wind-/waterproof clothing. The weather can change fast in the mountains, so bring multiple layers of clothing. This safari generally lasts 5-6 hours, depending on where the animals are, weather, group fitness etc. We'll have a lunch break, so you need to bring your lunch, something to drink and perhaps a snack. The animals move freely in the national park, which makes it impossible to know how every day will be. Guests need a moderate fitness level, as hikes can be between 7 and 15 km in total, with elevation along the way. The muskoxen are wild animals and need to be respected. We therefore keep the advised safety distance of 200 m. Our guide has a telescope for everyone to use, but if you have binoculars we definitely recommend bringing them!

Great trip, even in the snowstorm with the hurricane in the castes. Guiden Jakob, was incredibly good. A patient and humorous guide with a glimpse in the eye to sit on incredibly much knowledge. He was very proven and very careful that everyone who was in the group was both dressed correctly for the trip and that everyone was included, took breaks along the way to gather the group. We both got to see two mosquito socks and wildrein. The experience itself and the tour will get a dice cast 6

Super experience. Our great grandfather of 81 years was with us, and we had a nice trip with him and his grandchildren. Saw a lot of animals and had a great trip 😁

We've seen a lot of them. Both from quite near and far. Guide brought telescope so we could also see them up close. Our expectations were met very quickly, after only an hour of walking we already saw them. Highly recommended!!

We got to see musk oxen on several occasions during a rewarding tour with very knowledgeable guide Jakob. In addition to sharing interesting stories and facts about the musk oxen, the guide ensures that excursions are on the musk oxen’s terms. Easy hiking terrain and plenty of time to eat your lunch during the stops. Binoculars or hiking sticks are available for rent for those who need them.

This was a really enjoyable trip. They take you out to spots where you can see the muskox, which I think was in Konsvoll. We then hiked up a range of hills and in addition to beautiful scenery were able to see some muskox. The guide, Jacob, gave an informative talk. We were able to ask a range of questions and learn all about Norwegian nature. Because there were a lot of people they split the group in two and this ensured that everyone got the most out of the experience.

A very nice intensive walking tour. Fine guide who took into account the difference in walking pace. The musk oxen were very high so the hike was tough. The scenery is beautiful. This trip is intensive and requires some fitness and can rise and fall but is definitely recommended.

I'll do the hike on my own next time. We've seen the animals, but I would have expected us to get closer. You could see something with the guide's telescope. We were 18 in the group, took a lot of breaks. I probably had too high expectations from the other reviews.
