What To Expect

Our journey starts in Mendiga, a village with a strong rural identity, shaped by stone walls, water cisterns, and a life tuned to the rhythm of Nature. From there, we’ll drive through the Serra de Aire’s karstic landscape — a place of fossils, ancient pastures, and resilient plants that bloom between cracks in the rock. Throughout the Tour, I’ll guide you to places that may not be on the map, but are full of meaning: Hidden viewpoints where the limestone plateau opens into wide horizons. Traditional landscapes with dry-stone walls and wild herbs underfoot. Signs of wildlife — from birds and butterflies to the quiet traces they leave behind. Stories of the land, from geology to local customs passed down through generations. This is an easy route, with gentle terrain and plenty of stops to talk, reflect, and notice details you might otherwise miss.

What a fantastic morning we spent with Hernâni discovering wonderful landscapes combining scientific explanations for the mysteries of the limestone formations of the region. Ideal tour to make in Family to finish with a homemade cake and a tea (prepared by our dear host Teresa do Retiro of Grandfather Lídia) that welcomed us body and soul 😊

It was an unforgettable moment. Hernãni is a passionate and exciting guide. He introduced us to the Serra de Aire Natural Park, its flora and fauna. A great moment of emotion when we saw the dinosaur prints. Hernãni is a very cultivated guide with whom we were able to exchange. And besides, he gave us herbal tea and delicious cakes prepared by Teresa.

We did a 4x4 tour of the Serra de Aire and it was a fantastic experience. Hernâni was an exceptional guide: he explained everything with great clarity, knowledge and passion for the area, which made each stop even more interesting. In addition, he was very attentive with us throughout the tour, making sure we were comfortable and enjoying the experience to the fullest. The 4x4 journey was exciting, with stunning scenery and corners that we would never have discovered on our own. We recommend this excursion without hesitation, and especially to Hernâni.
