What a wonderful cultural experience. Moses and Tia treated us so well. Bus picked us up at hotel and took us to sigatoka. We crossed the narrow river in a boat then hopped into the fun jeep. Moses drove while Tia explained about the villages we were driving thru. Almost everyone came out front to greet us. These people have nothing and are happier than we are. A good lesson. Then we went to the chiefs house for a ceremony where we gift the chief with Kava root. Tia then took us on a walk to the cave, where cannibals practiced. We were all seniors and had trouble fully inspecting the cave but what we saw was worth it. Tia offered to go in further and took pictures with our camera. After cave tour, they took us back to the chief's house for a delicious barbeque and sharing time. Do not miss this experience. IT IS FIJI.

Our Naihehe Cave Safari in Sigatoka was an absolute gem of an experience—thrilling, cultural, heartfelt, and filled with laughter. From the moment we met our guide Sadam and driver Moses, we knew we were in good hands. Sadam was not only informative but also incredibly engaging. He shared the story of his name—born during the Gulf War—and other memorable village naming traditions, like a child named Lockdown during COVID. Naturally, we joked that Moses must’ve been born during biblical times—he looked great for his age! On our way to the caves, we picked up several villagers heading to a funeral, which gave us a genuine glimpse into Fijian customs and the spirit of community. It was touching and respectful, and Sadam helped us understand the meaning behind what we were witnessing. The caves themselves were breathtaking and full of mystery—towering rock formations, the eerie remnants of a cannibal oven, a romantic wedding cavern, and even a hidden pregnancy chamber where women once waited out secret births. The stories brought the cave to life. Getting through the tunnels required a sense of adventure—we crouched, crawled, and waded through ankle-deep water, often on slippery, uneven rock. It felt like stepping back in time into a secret world. After the cave exploration, we were treated to a delicious BBQ lunch prepared by Moses himself. The grilled sausages were sizzling hot and full of flavor, paired perfectly with an abundant spread of fresh local fruits and vegetables. Every moment of this tour was memorable—equal parts history, humor, heart, and hands-on adventure. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path that combines culture, exploration, and incredible food, don’t miss the Naihehe Cave Safari. Highest praise to Sadam and Moses for making it unforgettable!

Highly recommend this tour. Saddam, Terri and Moses made it a most enjoyable and memorable day. In addition to the cave we learned a lot of history and insight into the Fijian culture. BBQ lunch was excellent.

My guides, Sadam and Moses, were the perfect hosts. Sadam explained the history of the villages we passed by on the way to the cave. He and Moses are locals from the villages we passed. Not only do they know their history inside and out, but they knew every one of the homes we passed by. After presenting our sevusevu (gift of kava) to the traditional priest who is the caretaker of the land, we were permitted to enter the cave. The cave is rich with history. The tour guides know the cave like the back of their hands because they've been visiting the cave since they were children. Sadam was a thorough, fun, and exciting guide for my tour. After the tour, the priest's family prepares lunch for you. I got to enjoy a meal with our guides and the family - learning a few Fijian words and talking with their kids. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you'd like to learn some of the cool history behind the Sigatoka Valley.
