This amazing adventure is one of the TOP tour in Monterrey, la Huasteca. To begin, the guide will outfit you with a harness, helmet, climbing and rappel kit. The group then hikes for 90 minutes to the first amazing point of view. There is a small scrambling section before we clip into the safety cables and begin climbing up. Step and grab onto the rocks to climb up and feel the adrenaline. At halfway up, we stop for water, snacks and photos. Then we continue climbing up the the top of the mountain. We have then to make 3 rappels of 100ft each,to get back to the vehicles and go back to drop off point.

This is advanced hike! Bring your head light, good hiking shoes, layers and don’t go if you are physically not fit. The hike starts from good elevation gain before the sunrise, so you are hiking in the dark in the sliding rocks. Guides did a good job making sure we had few stops to rest and we made it to the first view point right in time for sunrise, they take pictures of everyone which is nice! They do set up the rappels and show you how to use via ferrata kit. I really enjoyed rappelling!!! But I really hated the sliding rocks on the decent, it was dangerous to go down with that speed after all that hiking and rappelling. I also missed stops for toilet, there is no toilet anywhere on the hike, so basically you go 6h without one. Because the stops are not long enough for girls to take off the harness in the bushes and then put it on and catch up with the group.

Don’t underestimate it, the whole way is inclined (up and down) you have to go well prepared, gloves to not hurt your hands with ropes, boots to avoid twists and water. The guides were super friendly and very patient, no pressure was felt as with other operators.
